It had to be the X button on my PS2 controller. I think I broke it by wrapping a rubber band with a battery over it and leaving it on overnight to try and acquire those “50000 Battles” and “50000 enemies” Battle Trophies in Star Ocean 3.
So basically, I’m looking to purchase a new turbo controller for the PS2, but I’m looking for one that’s known to be pretty reliable and that won’t do this to me. Does anyone here have any suggestions? Money isn’t really an object, as long as it’s reasonable; if I have to pay 40 dollars or so for a turbo controller that won’t conk out on me, then I will.
Thanks for your input in advance.
Well, congrats. Your the most dedicated person I know who’s trying to get all of those Battle Trophies. So did you wind up getting it in the first place?
Erm…yeah, well, I mean, won’t having a battery over any controller for such a long period of time screw it up? My Uncle gave me a controller a long time ago that seems to me made to suit the purpose your talking about. For the life of me I can’t remember what it’s called…
I remember that you could turn a particular button on or off. I tried to cheat with it on Metal Gear Solid once to get pass that torture point and it didn’t work. Anyway, hope you find what your looking for.
I don’t really have an answer, but I, too, must commend you on your dedication. You’re a real gamer’s gamer.
I once had the right (or left, I forget which) trigger wear out on one of my DC controllers. Damn Daytona/CrazyTaxi/Shenmue/everyothergamethatusedthattriggerasanacellerationofsomesort.
I hate button mashing and crazy tasks that can only be accomplished this way for that reason. I think I’ ll forget about the craziest battle trophies and stuff like that.
Talking about turbo controllers, the one that costs the most is usually the best (and not only controllers, sadly).
Logitech, or if you’re willing to import, Hori. Those are going to be the best quality for you.
Just to sidetrack here a little bit, is it…safe to leave your playstation on like that for hours and hours while the buttons are being held down continually?
As long as you don’t leave it on too long. I only give it 12 hours a day at max, and after that, I let it rest for 12 hours.
Thanks for the advice. 8)
