If they use FFI characters, the fighter better be rockin the sword-chucks, and the Black Mage better be evil as fuck. \m/
A hahaha, that’s so true! \m/
But anyway, I’d definitely like to see some FF9 characters, ooh and some FF6 would be great too. Double ooh, wouldn’t that be cazy if they had FF11 characters in it… like an Elvaan Dragoon or Galka Paladin, for example? I dunno, I’ve just been in an FF11 phase lately.
How could I (or anyone else for that matter) forget about the one character that should, nay, must make an appearance…Gilgamesh.
This game just wouldn’t be worth it without him.
I don’t know why it took me so long to remember. I feel so much shame right now. ;_;
Editor’s Edit: Now that I’ve actually seen what this game looks like all I can say is WHOA!!
Anyway from what I saw it didn’t look like the frenzy that is Smash Bros what with only two characters at a time, but it looks like it can still win in its own way if done right. And having FF1’s Fighter verses Lich looks to be the start of something epic. In fact if the main concept of the game is one-on-one duels with characters from the FF series, perhaps, to reenact certant battles once fought in a more conventional turn based affair into a less predictable, off the wall, melee, then, I really could see the awesome potential of this game. If indeed this is the case then the fight I would consider the most FTW would be…
Bartz vs. Gilgamesh
Other fights I would consider being full of either Win and/or Own would be…
Galuf vs. Exdeath
Terra vs. Ultros, Chupon, (or anyone else)
Leo vs. Kefka
Cecil vs. Cecil
Cecil vs. Kain
Edge vs. Rubicant
Ramza vs. Wiegraf
and maybe Ashe vs. one of the Judges (or Vossler)
Btw, I figured out that the two characters in the title banner are Princess Sara and Chaos from FF1.
Aeris vs Sephiroth II: Aeris’ Revenge.
Aeris vs Sephiroth II: Second Time Down The Drain.
edit:Light warriors, great! I don’t think Fighter will have swordchucks but each must have an ORB.
But what if the Orbs get stolen by The Gullwings?
Ooh, I love crossovers. What system is this coming out for, again?
PSP, bah. Y’know, between this and some other things, I might try getting a PSP as well …
From what I heard, the Knight in the previews of Dissidia is Garland. The other people that I heard that were comfirmed were:Cecil,Kain,Zidane,Sephiroth, and maybe Lenneth from VP.
Well Sephiroth is a given, Since He’s practically their fucking mascot. You got fat pimply 14 year old girls to thank for that one.
I doubt Lenneth would get in there… it does say “Final Fantasy” on it, so not sure other Squeenix characters would be in it.
But we’re forgetting all the Summons! Seriously, who wouldn’t want to kick ass with Shiva or Ifrit or Bahamut?

Along with any boy who’s a) too old for Teletubbies, b) too young for any FPS that isn’t Halo, c) doomed to spend the rest of his life suffering from Low-IQ-Scoreidis and will remain locked away in his parents’ basement until society finds and takes him in, or d) some kind combination of the above.

Gilgamesh is a summon, and if the makers of those FF summons figurines are to be believed then there’s Kefka as well. Also thanks to FFXII Chaos and Exdeath can be considered Summons too. But yes they really should have more summons (Unless they’re being saved as special attacks for certain characters. Which would suck because I want to fight as Gilgamesh against Bartz, Galuf, and Exdeath not have him summoned by Squall. >_<)

I expect the Summons to be like the Pokemon from the Super Smash Bros. games.
I expect that half of those won’t happen. FFU in particular has never really been popular in the FF fanbase. Also, just because Setzer is the only FF6 character to appear in a Nomura game doesn’t mean he’s the only one Nomura will ever deal with.
I expect there’ll be more of a range of main characters and villains from the various numbered FFs with possibly one or two thrown in from Tactics. FF1’s Fighter and FF9’s Zidane and Kuja have already been confirmed.
Something to keep in mind is that a lot of the FF characters have very similiar skillsets. Do we really want half a dozen fighter-with-a-big-sword characters in a fighter?
Cidolfas: True, but I do expect these guys for popularity reasons. You may be right about FFU, but I do expect Setzer to use a combination of his fighting styles in FF6 & KH2.
Setzer didn’t really have a “fighting style” in KH2. It was “whack things with a foam hammer” the same as everyone else in that milieu.
TD: Actually, surprisingly few hero characters have exactly the same style. Cecil is more of a heavy knight, while Cloud wields a giant sword and Squall has a gunblade. Zidane uses thief knives, while any FF12 character is a jack-of-all-trades (except possibly for Balthier and Fran, who start off weighted towards guns and bows, respectively).
Cidolfas: Other than Roxas, everyone had their own style, like Seifer having a fighting stance like in FF8, and some of the movies.
I could Setzer with a sword using his “helicopter slicing” with his card throw attack.
Balthier actually gets a penalty for using guns. He fires guns 0.2 seconds slower than other characters. Go figure. (It’s not really noticeable or major, just an interesting note that the gun user Balthier is the worst gunner.)
Fighting stance and fighting style are very different. Like TD said, having a bunch of characters who all use swords is boring, regardless of how they hold them.
I’m kinda curious to see how standard magic will be handled in this game, or for that matter magic users. I’m hoping that they along with Summoners will get treated well.
