So here’s a thread you knew would come sooner or later. What features do you hope Dissidia will have, and other than that, what characters? Let’s be optimistic and say there’ll be about 20 characters, so go ahead and list the 20 Square/FF characters you hope’ll see. I’m just gonna list FF characters as that’s the only franchise I really follow.
What I mean is that I won’t mind if there are a ton of FF7,8,9,10,12 characters (that’s an inevitability). I just don’t want that to mean there won’t be many characters from the early games because of that.
I second that. Cecil (either Dark Knight and Pally as separate, or switchable a la Shiek/Zelda in SSBM), a smattering of FF1 classes, half the cast of FF6 … [STRIKE]Cid, Cid, Cid, and Cid …[/STRIKE]

I couldn’t settle on 20 so I went to 40. Although it does seem a little foolhardy to start speculating on SSBM like appearances for a game you know almost nothing about.
The difference is that Quina isn’t making it, Squeenix is. 8p It’s a BIG difference. Nintendo started the idea with Smash Brothers, and really, the idea makes a ton of sense. This is the REAL way you should reward fans, not with half-baked remakes and ports.
But anyway, I’d definitely like to see some FF9 characters, ooh and some FF6 would be great too. Double ooh, wouldn’t that be cazy if they had FF11 characters in it… like an Elvaan Dragoon or Galka Paladin, for example? I dunno, I’ve just been in an FF11 phase lately.
How could I (or anyone else for that matter) forget about the one character that should, nay, must make an appearance…Gilgamesh.
This game just wouldn’t be worth it without him.

Editor’s Edit: Now that I’ve actually seen what this game looks like all I can say is WHOA!!
Anyway from what I saw it didn’t look like the frenzy that is Smash Bros what with only two characters at a time, but it looks like it can still win in its own way if done right. And having FF1’s Fighter verses Lich looks to be the start of something epic. In fact if the main concept of the game is one-on-one duels with characters from the FF series, perhaps, to reenact certant battles once fought in a more conventional turn based affair into a less predictable, off the wall, melee, then, I really could see the awesome potential of this game. If indeed this is the case then the fight I would consider the most FTW would be…

Btw, I figured out that the two characters in the title banner are Princess Sara and Chaos from FF1.
From what I heard,the Knight in the previews of Dissidia is Garland.The other people that I heard that were comfirmed were:Cecil,Kain,Zidane,Sephiroth,and maybe Lenneth from VP.
