Yep, that’s one of the most well-known scenes in videogaming ever.
Among the very tiny emulation community, sure. 8p It’s not an official translation (nothing like this would ever get released in the real world). And while the Japanese was definitely… strong language, the effect wasn’t supposed to be anywhere near as shocking as the English sounds.
Out of curiosity, what DOES Ashe say in that scene, in the official translation?
There is no official translation as of yet. ToP is coming out for GBA pretty soon though, so we’ll see.
Ah, I see. I wanted to recall that the PSX version of the game was released in the States, but I guess I remembered wrong.
Anyway, it will be interesting to know how they clear it up. 
Yeah, that contributed to my putting down that game and not picking it back up again. Oh, and the fact that I couldn’t find my way around the next part.
I can only imagine Nintendo completely removing all references to anything like that.

They shouldn’t have changed the translation, I thought the whole boat ride was hilarious!
They can’t use that translation without purchasing it from the fan translators. What’s more, Nintendo would never allow language like that in a game. That language would definitely earn the game a “M” rating, which would highly diminish its sales as an RPG.
That’s hilarious. I can only hope they use a somewhat similar translation for the GBA version.
Man, I can’t wait to pick up my copy, play the game for the very first time, and see what the translation ends up being.
Well, most japanese-originating stuff would be quite strong in language if they really bothered to translate all the damns and craps. (Both words made mild on purpose)
They even censored the one only “Damn!” X had in MMX

Yeal well it’s kind of like going to the zoo after drinking milk. Sometimes it can lead to stuff that isn’t.
Maba: The difference is that strong language in Japan is far more “mainstream” than it is here. There are plenty of shows/games which are marketed to family audiences that include that language, whereas in the US there’s no way that would fly. So even if technically the language would translate that way, in terms of the effect on the audience, censoring it for a US audience would actually put it closer to what the writers wanted.
Then you’re a fool because ToP was one of the greatest 16-bit RPGs ever. >:(
