Two screens? The hell?

The hell, indeed? I guess some people finally figred out that it’s tedious to have to stop playing to glance at a map for .3 seconds.

Cool.
Two screens in a handheld console would be like the return of Game and Watch. At least my Game and Watch has two screens.

Damn - beat me to it!

NOOOOOOO!!!

Betcha “DS” stands for “dumbshit.” Or “Do—”

I somehow doubt that.

I think it’s gonna be called the “Game Bugger.”

I think this “two screen” thing went way out of hand after FF:CC.

I’m not quite sure what to think. An image would have been helpful for understanding what they want it to be, but oh well. I think I’ll probably stick with my GBA and continue to think about getting a Gamecube, just like usual.

face palms

prays there’s not going to be a Smash Bros. game for it

Could be another Virtual boy … with a good system, with good games, with good stuff, and like… yeah >_>

Or a total flop

Part of the reason that the original gameboy did so well was because another gameboy didn’t come out until something like 10 years after the original. The GBA SP still has soooooo much time left on it, I don’t see why we need another one.

An excellent point that I hadnt thought about heh.

I wish they would work on a next gen console that is backwards compatible with GC (ala PS and PS2), this portable crap is pointless.

*smacks jak upside the head.

Virtual boy was a good idea, but the technology required to make it suceed wasnt availible at the time.

With technology like wearable computing around, the possiblitly for a virtual boy in full color is not only feasable, but already in development in labs.

MIThril, a wearable computer with visual display through goggles like a virtual boy.

And to all you VB haters…

I think it’s a good idea, but I can’t imagine people buying it in droves. I think the problem is that the handheld market is held in high-esteem largely by younger people. For example, every male on my campus is likely to have a PS2 or X-Box in his lair, but only a fraction would have gameboys. And the likelihood of owning a handheld lessens exponentially the older you get. And, since parents are likely to purchase these things for kids, and they just got them a GBA, they won’t see much purpose for it. Plus I think kids are largely satisfied with just a GBA and they don’t need another system that a rather small % of games will likely really utilize effectively, anyway. I think the handheld market is much closer to its saturation-point than Nintendo is currently assuming.

The idea is probably ahead of its time. You’ll see split-screen games becoming more prominent once big-screen televisions become both cheaper and more proliferated, otherwise I think this is a superfluous product.

The problem with the virtual boy had nothing to do with technology, but rather everything to do with how the system was set up. You had to stand up and bend over to use the system, which leaves you with a very sore back after a while. That and there were next to NO games for it at all quickly pulled the Virtual boy to a sudden demise.

plus, according to Nintendo, the virtual world of the future consisted entirely of strange, crimson-colored wireframes of simple geometric shapes, and occasionally, Arwings.

Virtual boy sucked. While it was a good idea, it was a pain in the neck (Litterally), gave people headaches and most of the games were just flat out boring.

;_;

I liked it. Like i said, the red and black was its biggest downfall, but now they could pull off full color.

And sorc, or whoever said it, it did have some good games. Like wario world, mario clash, and others.

I remember one summer I had saved up enough money to buy a Virtual Boy and was torn between some tough decisions to buy other super NES games. I ended up siding with Crono Trigger and whatever else it was that I got at the time. Whew…
