Yeah, this news is almost a week old, but this forum’s dead anyway. So:
The final episode of School Days was preempted due to a schoolgirl ax-murdering her father. A few days later, Higurashi Kai was also preempted. Reference for “nice boat”.
For those unfamiliar with the series, School Days is proof that people who say they wish the spineless male in a harem would stop being so wussy and make a move on the girls inexplicably throwing themselves at him are lieing. Pretty much all the characters in the series are some degree of asshole, except for the one girl who is a doormat, and her little sister (who is adorable and has limited screen time which prevents her from becoming annoying). Apparently, much of the shows popularity comes from knowledge that, of the 21 endings in the H-game it’s based on, 3 of the potential endings are bloody. It looks like there will be a bloody ending. The only other appeal I can imagine this show has is that the plot and characters are rather unlike mostly any other harem anime.
It’s not so much a lie, but rather the fact that Makoto is far too much of an insufferable wuss even among this kind of main characters. If it were someone a little bit more lovable like Saito or Nagasumi, the reaction would likely be a bit different.
I still don’t quite get the nice boat thing. But I did hear about this. Sucks for the people who were watching the show and wanting to see someone die (I know some people who fit that description xD). I haven’t actually seen it though. I’ll just wait for the last episode to actually be released.
The broadcast of the last episode was replaced with a series of images depicting landscapes and other stuff. One of them was that boat you see in the image demigod posted. Someone thought that the comment “nice boat” there was somehow hilarous and created a shop of the School Days title replacing it with “Nice Boat”. As is the nature of silly internet jokes, it spread about and became a running joke. No, I don’t think it’s very funny either.
In any case, I don’t really care much myself. Just as long as Higurashi, and most importantly, the advent of the Magician of Words at full power is not delayed, I’m happy.
Ah, okay, I get it now. Higurashi wasn’t delayed as far as I know, but when I watched the new episode, they replaced the shot in the opening of the bloody machete with the junkyard. Which confused me for a minute before I remembered all this.
I have the last episode, but haven’t watched it yet, because I want to make sure I have something obnoxiously cheerful and/or funny on hand for immediately afterwards (I’m think Bottle Fairy).
Also, though I watched the Higurashi episode a day or two ago, I only just realized why it was delayed. The real life murder victim was a police officer, and in episode twelve a couple officers get killed by the green-shirted goons.
I got around to watching the last episode. It is a very nice boat that Kotonoha has. Sekai really does a number on Makoto as well, it looked like she severed his arm as well. Not much else to say, since I only watched this episode. :\ I guess the unedited version was worse, too.
Did she? I didn’t notice that. Anyway, after the unavoidable hype, I was dissapointed by the final episode. Maybe if Makoto hadn’t sought new levels of asshole-ishness it would have been better. Changing the blood to black probably lessened the traumatic nature of the scene.
Poor, crazy Katsura Kotonoha.
@ DonutKnight: Quite possibly, although I tend to use pathetic when refering to someone pitiable, which Makoto definately was not.
