I would hope Kenpachi gets more development. I think I remember Yama-ji commenting on how he can hear Kanpachi’s Zanpaktou calling out nd wanting his name to be heard.
I dunno, Kenpachi is badass, but I don’t find his backstory remotely interesting. I’d like to see more information about, say, Soi Fong, Unahana, Kyoraku, some of the vice-captains we barely know anything about… and what the hell happened to Ganjuu and his one-armed sister?
As an aside, I downloaded the full version of Shoujo S (the current intro song) and damn, it’s really good. The singer has an awesome voice and although I have no idea what the words mean, I just really like the sound of the syllables.
Shame about the actual animation of the intro, though; it’s like the three of them are strippers but with all their clothes on.
Who’s Zanpaktou is the one that shoots purple lightning? They mentioned the guy’s name but I can’t put a face to it.
Purple lightning? O_o Doesn’t ring a bell.
Btw, anyone took a look at the third movie, Fade to Black? I thought it was okay… better than the second but not as good as the first.
It’s Gonryomaru or something like that. If it doesn’t ring a bell that’s half the joke. It’s the zanpakuto that belongs to the lieutenant of the 1st division, ie: Yamamoto’s direct subordinate (the OTHER old guy that everyone forgets about).
Sad thing is, despite how much of a non-presence that character is we STILL know the name of his zanpakuto where Iba’s is still a mystery.
The guy with the little pencil moustache, right?
There’s still a bunch of people who we’ve seen but have never seen in action… Yachiru, the 4th squad lieutenant (that tall woman with the pinkish hair), Mayuri’s clone-daughter… Kubo likes to focus on the boring characters. X-X
You’re right. They even made Ukitake and Kyoraku’s Zanpakuto guard Yamaji’s, sidestepping the need to explain dual blade wielders. Except for Hisagi’s, of course.
Heh, Spoony, both of your points were lampshaded in the last episode. Iba did the voice over where he refused to say the name of his zanpakuto, and Soi Fong couldn’t recognize the zanpakuto of the pencil-moustache guy - and his “reason” for rebelling is precisely because he’s so bland nobody can remember him. 8p
Well either I’m brilliant, or the jokes in Bleach are just that predictable.
Anyway, this week’s episode began a new opening and ending sequence which suggests this filler arc is lasting for at least another season. There wasn’t a hint of the manga canon story in the opening (similar to the fourth opening in the middle of the Bount arc), so we’ll have to deal with Muramasa and his emo tears of blood for 20-ish episodes at least.
Seriously. The opening begins with him flinging away some of his bloody tears in an exaggerated motion. But with those fingernails of his it’s hard to imagine any of his hand gestures not being exaggerated.
Yeah. Ouch. How can he do things like pick stuff up?
I imagine it’s the same way for anybody who intentionally grows their nails long. Though they should really explain how he can wield a sword since I don’t see how he can get a full grasp on the handle.
Oh, I do have the same question. There’s someone who works in my office whose nails are probably two inches long and she sits there tapping at a keyboard all day. I think she has to do it with her hands flat against the keyboard, which strikes me as a terribly inefficient method.
Watched 243 today. Story’s still going strong. These fights are so much more personal than the stupid Arrancar, and I like the little jibes that keep poking fun at the characters. It’s no FMA, but it’s actually enjoyable to watch.
Ironically, I’ve been watching Bleach lately as well. Mostly because I don’t have Cable anymore so I watch stuff in Youtube. I like the show, but I really need to go back and watch it from the beginning. How many episodes is that…? :thud:
Good lord Wil, read the manga. For the love of everything you hold dear, read the goddamn manga.
Bleach is the worst manga ever to animate because a single chapter can fill, at the absolute best, five minutes of animation. This results in the slowest, most dragged-on, repetitive chapters ever since Freeza said Namek would blow in 5 minutes.
So you get an ungodly amount of chapters that move at a snail pace, filler, more slow chapters, more filler, filler, and did I mention filler? Except the current filler arc is good because everyone is fucking sick of what’s going on in the manga, past filler like the Bount arc is an entirely different, far fouler-smelling beast.
Also, animation blows in 99% of the chapters (Even if the occasional one is awesome, but you can cherry-pick those) and it’s censored as hell to boot.
Fine. Where?
Edit: nevermind, Glenton had given me the link to a Bleach site, I just forgot about it.
Still, watching the occasional animated episode is cool. Hell, it’s my whole point, I got tons of stuff to read, I want something to watch.
Edit 2: I also dig the show’s music. Especially the guitar riffs. Goes well with the Spanish names. Btw shouldn’t that be “Mundo Hueco”, not “Hueco Mundo?” Still sort of right, but sounds odd…
Kubo does Spanish as well as every other manga artist does English. You should have seen the utterly nonsensical Menos Grande already, which is Kubo trying to say “Big Minus”.
The Bount arc was kind of meh, but I liked the rest of them.
I’m disappointed with how they handled Wabisuke and Ashoji Jiro. They had the potential to be the most troublesome Zanpaktou to deal with and in the end i was like they didn’t matter.
I think Wabisuke’s handling actually made the most sense. Seriously, how do you fight against someone who makes your sword instantly unusable when your sword is practically all you have? I never really liked Yumichika’s zanpakuto, so no comment there.
