Here’s the “Blitz” rule. A person can call “Shotgun” once the prior qualifications for calling Shotgun have been fulfilled. However, another potential passenger may call “Blitz”, meaning that the previous call for Shotgun is nullified. The calling of Blitz signals a violent free-for-all physical battle for the Shotgun seat, with the seat going to the person who gets to it and sits in it first.
The way to prevent the Blitz is to call “Shotgun” followed by the words “No Blitz.” Therefore, the potential Shotgun rider would say “Shotgun no blitz!” - all remains as calm as in a normal situation, and the Shotgun seat is assured.
Not everyone knows about the Blitz rule, so sometimes arguments being when someone uses the rule. Then there’s a violent free-for-all, just as planned.
