Neo Food of the Day

Food #339:
F is for Falafel

So it’s kinda like hushpuppies made from chickpeas. Sorta, I guess. It’s kinda cool. It’s fried, so that’s always a plus.

I guess I like falafel. It’s one of those foods that is really, really bad if done poorly, though.

I’ve never had falafel. But it’s really fun to say, isn’t it? Falafel falafel falafel.

Great fast food in places with Arab street shops.

Food #340:
G is for Gruel

I had a rice based gruel once. I spent all night going up to my roomie who made it, asking “Please, sir. Can I have some more?” It was bland, but a little hot sauce fixed that.

MORE!?

Funny Food #341:
H is for Hamburger Helper

That glove is just funny. A vastly underrated corporate mascot. Plus, HH always looks like glop, but it tastes good.

Hamburger Helper is what my sister and I would make for dinner when my dad was sick of cooking or if he was mad at us.
It was tasty and relatively easy to make.

I like Hamburger Helper - it’s easy to prepare! No Chicken Helper or Tuna Helper though, that’s just not my style.
(Holding out for J)

Food #342:
I is for Ice Pops

I LOVE Ice Pops. I like the blue flavor. Orange flavor can be good too. Wasn’t a big fan of purple (surprise!) and red.

Ice Pops are awesome! Used to eat 'em occasionally at work for a while. Haven’t had one in years.
Speaking of this, I should go buy Bomb Pops. Those were the shit.

Food #343:
J is for Jambalaya

I like Jambalaya. I don’t like the kinds that have seafood (crustaceans). So I guess I prefer the Cajun kind. It’s good. Maybe I’ll talk my Louisiana friend into making some.

For me, J = Joey Junior. Yes, I’m completely ignoring today’s food in favor of my own choice because I like this one so much.

For those of you not in the know, the Joey Jr. is the middle sized burrito at Moe’s Southwest Grill. It used to be the kid’s burrito, the Moo Moo Mr. Cow, back when there were only two sizes. The adult burrito was the Joey Bag of Donuts, and that one was bigger around than my bicep, which is not exactly tiny thanks to my gym membership. I decided to get the kid’s burrito since the size was more reasonable, it came with a cookie, and with an upgrade to an adult drink it was still cheaper than the adult burrito meal. So, YUMMY. Then, Moe’s got wise to how the adults were ordering the kid’s burrito for all of these reasons and then decided to make the Joey Jr. The kid’s burrito is still called the Moo Moo Mr. Cow, and it is a lot smaller. The Joey is the same, and the Joey Jr. is where it’s at. It’s like Goldilocks style, not too large, not too small, but just right.

I like mine without rice and beans. I get chicken, salsa, cheese, lettuce, and pickled jalapeno slices.

I always get this on Friday now. Moe’s has weekday specials, and Friday is Eat Moe for Less - Joey Jr. with a drink for $5. Everything comes with chips and salsa anyway. Eating one of my favorite things for less money makes it taste even better. Even if my Friday totally sucked, I know that my Joey Jr. will still be good.

Heh, loved that.

All that about Joey and Moe flew over my head though.

Food #344:
K is for Kimchi

Kimchi. Pickled cabbage? Blegh. No thanks.

I hate cabbage, they don’t taste good no matter what. Oh, and the google shows me that kimchi looks bad.

Food #345:
L is for Latkes

Potato pancakes. They’re okay. I prefer stuff like hashbrowns if I’m having potatoes fried in some manner like that.

Never had one myself. But I do love hash browns!

I just like potatoes.

They’re awesome with sour cream.
