Name of Anime?

I can’t remember the name of an Anime I used to watch on Cartoon Network. At least I think it was on Cartoon Network, in the toonami thing they had a long time ago.

The only thing I can remember is that it was about a guy and his spaceship (they flew around a lot), and there was this girl in a tube filled with fluid that he ends up falling in love with or something. The tube was in the middle of the ship and in plain sight, and you’d see the girl in it floating, controlling the ship or something.

IIRC, the anime had an intro scene explaining the differences between humans, cyborgs, robots, and bio-androids.
