Murderball

I just saw this movie last night. It was great!

For those who don’t know, it is a documentary on quad rugby, or paraplegic rugby, which is a serious sport. They play it in the paralympics.

The movie is less about the sport of Murderball and more about the players. It follows them around and shows how they live their everyday life. They also talk about the accidents/illnesses that paralysed them in the first place. They cover everything, from adjusting to life in a wheelchair, to getting busy with your girlfriend.

Nothing in this movie is sugar coated, and that is what makes it great. It is an honest look at people confined to wheelchairs. The result is a great movie that gives hope.

It really made me think of people in wheelchairs differently.

I only go to the movies 2 or 3 times a year, but “Murderball” was definitely one of those movies that made me use up precious weekend time to go see it. I highly reccomend this to everyone.

Also, Roger Ebert wrote a very good review of it. You can read it <a href=“http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050721/REVIEWS/50607001”>here</a>.

Edit: I also really want to see Hustle & Flow. Anyone here seen it? (I doubt it)

I haven’t seen Hustle & Flow, but a friend of mine saw it and really liked it.

If you are into hip hop, you’ll like it.

I’d see hustle and flow, but the lead character’s hair is too distracting.

Haha… His hair is horrid.

Murderball is definetly on my list.
