Hey, I was wondering if anyone here is into MUDs. Medievia in particular. I’m an active player and I was just hoping to meet up with different players on here.
If you have never tried a MUD I suggest www.medievia.com it’s worth a shot you might get addicted like me
I’ve been a lot into muds. I was big into Shades of Evil and I even tried a Discworld MUD. But now I’m playing Tibia, which is kinda an intermediary evolution step between MUD’s and MMORPG’s. It’s a qualified MMORPG but it’s just that the graphs are so simple that it isn’t eyecathing the least.
BTW, Tibia is free. You can pay for an account with some priviledges, but the game is enjoyable even if you don’t.
I play in the server Fortera, and currently I’ve got Carlin citizenship. Level 9 paladin for ya.
did anyone ever play Aardwolf? I think that was a MUD. My friend’s brother just used it as a messanger at one point. he was starving for 30 days or something.
I used to MUD a bit, but I quit after Shades of the Past.
Nothing causes you to lose faith in MUDs quite like the experience of an arachnid rogue getting killed by a Cute Bunny. A generic critter killed my first character.
So I thought, OK. So being a rogue apparently sucks in this game.
Next character. Titan Knight.
I was really lucky then. I even got loads of equipment and a heavy boosting from one of the creators of the game.
(There was a really powerful player who asked me if I was lost and needed help.
Since I was a total noob at that time I answered yes and then I followed that person for a while.
He helped me powerlevel and gave me loads of cool eq. And then I thought: “Hmmm… I recognize that name… But from where.” Then when I checked the list of players I saw that he/she was one of the main programmers and one of the creators of the game. :P)
And then both my character and my pet (a wolf) died because of Viciuos Dustbunnies.
When you get killed by Cute Bunnies and DUSTBUNNIES it’s time to stop playing.
Haven’t played any MUDs since then.
I tried playing a few but my sense of direction sucks ass even when I can see where I am.
When I only get text… Well… I managed to get lost in the character creation rooms.
Personally, I find the learning curve too great. I could find the time, though, possibly, over one thing; do they have the levelling treadmil of MMORPGs? Because I know there is a degree of similarity in them.
Anyone ever played a MuD called Darkness Falls before? I’m trying to find old players lol. Can’t seem to find any. It went down like erm…3 years ago, maybe longer.
Think the granddaddy of modern MMORPGs, only in text. You perform actions by typing in commands, like say Hello to… well say “Hello”. Like the old infocom games.
LOL yeah you either love it or hate it I think… or hate loving it. The first time I tried it I was like Groan but I decided to give it some time and I got used to it quick and got quite into it.
I’m also on a couple MUX’s (Multi User eXperience), such as Cosmic Muffin which I am a staffer on; MUSHes (Multi User Shared Hallucination); MUCKs (Multi-User Character Kingdom); and am working on creating a MUSCRAT (Multi-User Systemic Combat/Roleplay Activity Thingamajig) using MUSHcode. All are like Zero described.
