Moved from Booken's thread to here.

Well, I believe you wanted to continue it here TD, so let’s continue.

I didn’t want to continue this per se, but the other thread was getting derailed. Anyway, it’s your turn to comment.

Bitching about punishment is commonplace. What do you think appeals trials are? :stuck_out_tongue:
If punishment is handed out evenly, then the people bitching have no right to, and therefore should be told to shut up or face the same punishment for antagonizing operators.

They get told that, and said punishments are given out. But it’s horribly tiring to have to go through that ritual every time something happens. Which has been a lot lately.

I agree that a lot of rules are enforced in a silly manner - case in point, this morning (or last night for you, whatever) TD, you banned Xelo for using the ophorn to get your attention for Cid. Cid asked him to use it because he couldn’t make it work on his own due to his IRC illiteratacy. You banned Xelo for 24 hours for using the ophorn in a nonemergency situation when he was doing a favor for Cid.

We explained this to you and you didn’t revoke the ban. Why? “Because he’s done it before”. Past actions shouldn’t be applicable to spur of the moment offenses, especially something as minor as using the ophorn - since thats what it’s supposed to be used for, getting your attention.

Despite the extraneous circumstances (and Cid’s offer to banned in his place), you refused to remove the ban, without stating a reason why.

To me, that says nothing but irresponsible abuse. I run into this shit in the chat all the time, which is why I hold so little regard for the chatroom anyway, because I know it’s just full blown bullshit. The ops rarely do anything productive as far as being an op is concerned except change the topic, and even then, half the time it contains stupid little things like “Xelo wears a skirt”.

Well what the hell do you think ops are for, just looking pretty? Ops are meant to uphold the rules. If there’s a streak of rulebreakings, then up the ante on first time punishments because of that.

Note that I unbanned him 1 hour later anyway. He’s done it before on several occasions, and so have other people. The ophorn is strictly for emergencies only. You don’t dial 911 just to talk to your friend who works there. You get punished for that too.

And Steve, if you’d pay attention, you’d see that that’s been happening.

Actually, all they do is have a policeman come to your house to see if everything’s alright, and if everything is, to lecture you about the importance of staying on the line to let them know it was an accident, etcetera.
I know this because I have two younger sisters :stuck_out_tongue:

We’re on a budget here, we can’t afford to send burly men with large sticks over :stuck_out_tongue:

Aw. Can’t you just send Kagon over with skimpy clothes to angrily/sexily yell at us?

Sure. 5z per minute.

Alright, I guess the argument is over until TD wakes up. :stuck_out_tongue:

People with different personalities act differently too. DG will probably just yell at you when he could have banned you. Unless you buy us all mind-controlling drones that make us all act and think the same way, deal with the “uneveness”

that gives me an idea invest heavily in Librium

While I’m not talking about this event, Xelo is known for trying to bs his way out of situations. And though Cid might’ve asked for it, he shouldn’t have asked for it because we’ve had numerous discussions about the ophorn and TD was enforcing a directive in regards to one of those discussions.

Ops and mods are necessary. While I would agree people are more lax in the chat, that in itself has often been topic of discussion and the result of much frustration on part of a segment of ops because their authority is thrown down the toilet by the lack of enforcement and their lack of saying “shut the fuck up and drop it now”. Because people like Nate and Xelo abused the appealing process, it made appeals problematic.
