Squall’s so annoying because he tries so hard to be all taciturn and “badass” to the point of ridiculousness. He’s like the poster-boy for teenage pseudo-angst.
Yeah I thought Gau was pretty sweet. Cause he could basically turn into other monsters.

FF6-Terra. Although i really liked Terra her whining got on my nerves. Sure she had a reason, but for someone who needs to save the world and has 13 other fighters supporting her, she was way too sentimental. Yeah I know she was supposed to be like that, but it just aggravated me.
FF7- Barret and his ghetto-speak, especially the way the writers portrayed him as a single parent, livin’ in da hood, with a bad ass reckless attitude. Pfft. One of the few coloured people presented in an FF game and they desicrate him by making him out to be 2 Pac the second or something, gangsta star from the streets, yo.
FF8-Rinoa and her unecessary screams of “MEANY!” at Squall. She was too…soap opera-ish, I mean no foreshadowing at all. She’s basically just a brunette airhead that forces her way into men’s lives. I mean, at first Squall didn’t want her, right? But nooo she HAD to make him dance…pushy bitch.
FF9-Steiner. He was just boring and un interresting, and also for reasons already stated. Just your average knight.
VI: Gau-I hate characters I can’t control. I mean at least Umaro could do some damage.
VII: The Turks-They think they’re so tough but I beat them too easily.
VIII: Selphie-She’s just too hyper for me. Her limit break rocked though.
IX: Ozma-He made me do a level 99 spree.
X: Seymour-I didn’t like his voice.
Actually, with the exception of maybe Cloud and Squall, I think most Final Fantasy characters suck ass and are annoying.

…Tupac didn’t have any children, he didn’t talk like that, nor was Longbeach, California anywhere reminiscent of Midgar. What a shitty analogy.
Whoops sorry I’m not into rap that much, I was just making a prejuduced generalization, <i>I’m so sorry</i>. I should have read up on my black history and chose someone like DMX, so I can be right when I compare rappers to FF next time. Plus I wasn’t talking about specifics. Tuh.
Comparing Barret to any sort of rapper is just silly. He doesn’t use rap lingo or really act in any way like a rapper.
However, I pity the foo’ who doesn’t compare Barret to Mr. T.
I’d say Gau if we’re talking about annoying Final Fantasy characters since he was seemingly useless besides Relm and Strago
On another note didn’t Palom and Parom remind anyone of Black Mage and White Mage from 8 bit theater just without the whole hitting on white mage stuff.

Whaaaa? Well he doesn’t use the “lingo” but his dialogue sports horrible grammar. Well at least at the beginning of the game it does…ok rapper bad example? I dunno how else to put it though…
My vote goes to the entire cast of FFIX; I hate that game so much.
FFVI: Strago…the only character more useless than Gau and Cyan. Why? He’s a Blue Mage. There, question answered. I hate Blue Mages.
FFVII: Cait Sith. Why the heck was he there to begin with? He never did anything worthwhile, and that Moogle was damn UGLY! Moogles are supposed to be cute, lovable things, not giant freaks of nature!
FFVIII: Hmm, I hated FFVIII, but if I had to pick one majorly annoying character, it’d have to be Selphie. She’s too hyper, too annoying, too stupid, too useless, too everything.
FFIX: Hard to say, but it’s a close call between Quina and Steiner. Quina’s a Blue Mage, and his/her/its dialogue got REALLY annoying as time went on. Steiner, although pretty good when leveled, was annoying as hell during the story. That, and I hated the sound his armor made; it grated on my nerves.
FFX: Rikku. I felt like driving screwdrivers through my ears whenever I heard her voice acting. Not only that, but she had some pretty stupid lines, and sounded like an overall airhead.
FFVI: Cyan. He sucks. Go into the shrine and check Zeppelin’s comment on him. I agree totally.
FFVII: Cait Sith. Damn untrustful cat.
FFIX: Steiner. He was supposed to be the compensation General since we can’t have Beatrix (Like Celes was for Leo) but he sucked. His skills where pretty good but they drained almost all his MP in a few turns and the “I must follow my duty” thing get’s really annoying.
Quina was was funny. Not that useful but he actualy made me laugh.
I like Eiko. Say whatever you want about her but I still like the brat. Plus, Terra Homing rules.
FFT (I know it’s not on the list but what the hell): Malak. WORST CHARACTER EVER. He has NO USE AT ALL.
Borghen (FF2): He’s a traitor, and an embarrassment to both Phynn and Palamecia. I can’t stand people who change sides when the chips are down.
Other annoying characters? Cloud, Squall and Mr. Coates.

I dont’ know, Malak made a pretty decent Lancer for me. Although “Hell” seems like a fairly useless ability, it can do insane damage to groups of enemies if you match up the elemental weakness.
