Not sure this one touches on what happened after Sons of Liberty…MGS3 is set in the 1960s. Looks like it’s a remake of the very first one.

Not really, for one, the first Metal Gear took place in the 1990s, not the 1960s. Also, there was no jungle sequence in the original MG. The orignal MG orignally started very much like MGS (with Snake swimming to the base and going in). The NES version is the one that added the short little jungle sequence. Also, just because it takes place in the 1960s, doesn’t mean much. It could still give more information about the Patriots. Kojima could pull another Raiden and maybe have the jungle sequences we see just take place in the beggining, ala MGS2, or it could have the Snake in the game be Big Boss and have him learn of the Patriots and show why he wanted to start Outer Heaven. There are just many possibilites. Kojima really knwos how to throw things off and create big surprises.

I was just hoping to pick up where SOL left off… the end wasn’t exactly a shocker, but it guaranteed that I’d buy the sequel, and this doesn’t look like to be one. But hopefully Kojima comes through somehow.
It’ll wrap up most of the loose ends that MGS2 didn’t. And just to clarify:
MG (MSX) - 1995
MG2: Solid Snake (MSX) - 1999
MGS - 2005
MGS2 - 2007 (Tanker) to 2009 (Plant).
Ghost Babel takes place in 2002 (might be 2001, but I’m pretty sure its 2002), but it doesn’t really fit into the storyline, so yeah. And I doubt Kojima’s gonna pull another Raiden, but for those that did enjoy MGS2 there’s supposed to be a nice little something in the game for ya. Anyway, I’m picking the game up sometime after school today, so I probably won’t be here for a few days.
