A television series called “Masterchef Australia” just last night presented one of the most incredible moments to ever grace our TV screens (here in Australia at least.) I’m not such a big fan of the series, but after seeing this documentary on TV, I must say that I was inspired like I’d never been before! You simply have to watch it:
Whether it was a completely natural performance (or whether it was planned from the beginning… as some reality shows are! But I hope not in this case.) It truly was something that made my day! It goes to show that there are truly genuine people out and in my opinion this guy, John Hughes, defined that criteria by the following comments:
“My food’s not [not] at a standard to present to my friends [or] my family. I’m not going to present to you guys today.”
“Today you gave me a recipe, but time-wise I was out of my depth.”
Okay. Who here didn’t misread this thread’s title as MasterChief Australia?
That said, Australia having an actual Master Chief would be kinda hilarious (and somewhat appropriate given the thought of him riding around on a Warthog and a Scorpion).
Well…that just looks like people feeling sorry for the man for not following the rules of the fucking game by NOT COOKING AT ALL. Sorry, but if you’re gonna treat “special” people different in a game, then give them their own league so they can play on their own terms.
He wasn’t given special treatment just because he suffering from a medical condition. He clearly stated that the work he did was not up to scratch, because he couldn’t pull it off in the time given, so he didn’t want to present it. I don’t see how that’s “not following the rules!” They made it quite clear… he had the guts to say he stuffed up and decided to face potential elimination for it! That earned my respect!
