Not very pleasant statistics to read, I must say.
A while ago I came across a report on human trafficking by The International League for Human Rights (ILHR claims to be one of the oldest human rights organisations, but obviously it’s not as well known as Amnesty), and Amnesty’s report just corroborates the IRHR’s findings.
2 million people are trafficked every year – the majority women and girls
And this just awful:
At least 1 in 3 women around the world has been beaten, coerced into sex, or otherwise abused in her lifetime.
Greece is usually reprimanded for receiving trafficking victims. There was a good comic about the mentality of traffickers but it’s in Greek.
