LotR extended editions

How much more IS there? What’s the significance of the extra material? I’m seeing ads for the extended edition of 2 towers saying there are 40 extra minutes (scary considering how long the movie already is). Taking FotR EX into consideration, how much do you think the extra footage add to the movie?\

I already bought normal FotR and Two Towers 8. I don’t plan on having either extended editions 8.

The FotR extended edition has longer fighting sequences, introduces Smeagol’s name, has the rest of Galadriel’s gift-giving sequence, and, uh, I forget what else. I think it’s safe to assume TTT has similar additions.

The extended FOTR also had much more time in Hobbiton before they moved off, and the scenes that were added there I rather liked. Not to mention the stuff that was added in the gift giving scene with Galadriel, Sam’s rope and the elven bread, were used in the edited version of the Two Towers, so I imagine some of the stuff in the uncut Two Towers might play a role in RoTK.

Personally, I prefer the extended FOTR, I mean, the movie is already 3 hours long normally, the extra 27 minutes or so don’t really make that much of a difference to me when you sit down and watch it. So I’ll be getting the extended TT as well.

And also, if you’re a real geek, all the stuff on how they made the movie that was on the extra 2 discs was neat too. I enjoy that stuff personally, but that’s just me.
:ah-ha!:

If you can hold out for about a year, all three LotR movies will be in a DVD trilogy with every extra feature you can think of or dream about. I’m waiting for that. 8)

It’s so much simpler to just wait for that when you know its coming. It’ll probably be cheaper too.

<img src=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/tenchimaru/td.gif”> Was there really any doubt about that? Same probably goes for Star Wars.

I only buy the extended editions (well, have bought for me for Christmas, at any rate)- there’s simply more movie to enjoy. If I get desperate, I can always rent.

Im doing that too. But that might not happen, heck, they still havnt released the original three “Star Wars” together on DVD.

I always wait for the extended editions… it’s worth it alot more =) The bonus footage is actually already part of the movies but had to be cut for the theater editions since they were so long ^^ this way they make more money with the dvd… and yes the extra footage is significant.

I have the extended fellowship. Its 2 disks long and has an additional 2 disks of extra features.

I’ve heard they have the scene in Treebeard’s home. I’ve always wanted to see Treebeard’s home.

I doubt I’ll buy it though. I’ve made a decision not to buy anything untill they release it as a triology. And till now, I haven’t. I’ve seen them all though.
