I was going to bring up Banon, but I forgot. I always figured when the returners were decieved by the Emperor, the Empire executed Arvis, Banon and the Returners. If you go back to Vector after Thamasa, he’s gone.
Perhaps that was edited out because Nintendo didn’t want their version of the game to be completely preoccupied with death?
That’s a possibility, but I think they would have put it back in for the Anthology, like they put everythink back in FFIV that had cut out of FF2(American). I did notice a few changes in FFVI (names of items, some of Relm’s speech) that they changed to make it more accurate, so I don’t see why they’d leave something that important out. I’d say they just ran out of time to put it in, or couldn’t figure out a good place to insert the information.
You’re probably right about them being executed though. Or even if they weren’t they were probably killed when the world went crazy.
A loose end in FFVIII, whatever happened to Rinoa being in love with Seifer? I wouldn’t have had any problem with her and Squall, except for the fact that she says that she loves Seifer at one point.
From what I remember Rinoa and Seifer, had a relationship long before Squall and she did.
Since at the end of disc 2, if you have Rinoa with you when you face Seifer, he says what about our time last summer, or something. Which indicates their relationship was before any of this happened.
As for who Gogo, really is. I don’t think it really matters whp Gogo is, since he was not really a big character in the game.
How did Daryl survive on the island all that time before the world changed. If you remember correctly, there were no Zone Eaters before the world changed.
If you crash landed on an island with a huge ship, wouldn’t you want to try and stay near that ship as it’s easier to see something like that when you’re looking.
Do you really think that the programmers would create such an intricate web of events that Gogo is actually Daryl? And if they did, wouldn’t they make it a little more obvious?
I e-mailed square about it when I was maybe 16, and my response was that they left certain things open to our enterpretation, and that was part of what they hoped we enjoyed about the game.
They were probably laughing, “What will they come up with next ?”
Rinoa and Seipher got it on about a year before she met Squall. I get the impression their relationship wasnt… formal, and that it never officially ended. As it was Seipher who introduced Rinoa to Cid, and Seipher who ran to Rinoa’s rescue. When Seifer showed up on the other side, opposite from Squall, THAT was when Rinoa started to struggle with her feelings.
On an unrelated note, Daryl seems to be the most popular theory as to Gogo’s identity, but another one I;ve heard often is that s/he’s Gestahl.
Um, wasn’t Gestahl kinda, y’know, FRIED TO A CRISP.Just a little bit.
With regards to the trinket Celes dropped, I think it was the bandanna of Locke’s that she found on the solitary island after jumping from the cliff. I’m pretty sure it’s the same sprite, at least.
For FF8, I thought the signal interference was explained fairly well near the end of the game. What struck me as odd was that the President didn’t seem to notice it had stopped working during one of his check-ups on the tomb. In Timber, you can pretty clearly see that the interference isn’t doing it’s job from the messages on the big outdoor TV screen.
Have you ever beaten the game without Locke in your party? The ending dialogue and scenes are different if you leave key characters behind. In this case, Setzer saves Celes, and tells her he owes her; he has to dress up as Maria for him someday! Cool, huh?
OK OK OK, so heres what square was thinking with Gogo: “We’ll get them, we’ll make a character with little to no character development, and have another character dissapear in the same general area, this way, a bunch of people on various web forums will bicker till thier little fingers bleed! WAH HAHAHAHAHA! Its brilliant!”
There, thats Gogo’s story, lets drop it. lol
FFT Spoilers, kind of…
As for the interpretation of what happens to Delita at the end of the game,
yes it is assumed by some that he dies, and others feel that he lives. According to the records on returner games (used for reference for various FF related D&D campaigns) they consider Delita to have lived and continue his reign as king. It however, does not mention Ovelia after the conclusion of Delita’s rise to power. So one assumtion can go as, Delita could shrug off a dagger wound, as he’s a military academy graduate, who survived an explosion, and became one of the best Holy Knight’s in all of Ivalice and then rose to power to become King. Also, I dont recall seeing Delita acutally fall over, but rather drop to one knee. That doesnt mean hes dead.
And in the end, really, why should he deserve to die? What he did was WRONG, very wrong to his friends and allies… But he saved the country, and brought about a new government that revived the glory of Ivalice’s grace.
I say Delita lives, as it doesnt make sense how a mere princess can kill him with a fucking dagger.
That’s my two cents, feel free to disagree, I love talking about FFT with people.
um princess oviala did’ent have a dagger.
when she rushed up against delita she was just being dramatic.
and when delita neeled down it wasent because he had a knife wound.
it was because he was in shock of what he had just done. he had killed his only other true love.
then the screen goes black.
on the squal being laguna’s kid thing. i dont think thats posible.
because first of all laguna was only married for a year before raine died of some illness. i dont think its posible to get married, have sex, and have a baby all in the same year… well unless she got pregnant during janurary or somthing but thats off subject.
(everything is serios except for this part)
and on vivi’s kids and where they came from.
my guess would be vivi went to vegas got really drunk and woke up with a stripper mage. vivi then finds out that he got stripper mage pregnant and has to either marry her or take the kid.
and vivi being the guy he is dident want to break his wedding vow with quina so he took the kids with him.
one things thats been bothering me is what happened to master org? :moogle:
The sound effects do seem to indicate that Ovelia stabbed Delita. You can’t see the knife because she’s facing away from you. As for Delita continuing his rule as king, we don’t actually know when the final scene takes place - it could be ten years after the ending of FFT, after Delita had already established himself as king.
Squall is most definitely Laguna’s son; Square’s pretty blatant about that in a few places. Yes, it certainly is possible to have a kid within a year of marriage. It only takes nine months.
my tv only has one audio plug in instead of 2 so i loose some of the sound.
i might not haave heard it because of that.
back on lagunaif sqaule was his son then how come laguna left him? i can understand him going after ellone but he could have left a note or somthing. and if they are related then how come they have different last names? did laguna not want sqaul do he changed his last name so he couldent be found? :moogle:
This is my interpretation of events for the ‘Laguna’ thing, cait sith:
I always got the impression that Laguna didn’t know about Squall until Ellone met up with him again and told him. As for Squall’s last name, we don’t really know who named him. If Edea did, it might just be a random last name. Or perhaps Ellone didn’t know Laguna’s last name, and gave him Raine’s maiden name. There’s lots of possibilities. Here’s how I’ve pieced the story together.
Sequence of Events for Laguna being Squall’s dad:
Laguna and Raine get married.
Raine gets pregnant.
Ellone is kidnapped.
Laguna leaves to rescue her.
Raine finds out she’s pregnant.
Laguna saves Ellone and sends her back to Winhill while he clues things up in Esthar.
Ellone arrives in Winhill in time to see Raine give birth to Squall.
Raine dies.
Ellone and Squall are shipped off to Edea’s orphanage.
Laguna gets elected president. Assumedly, he’d go back to Winhill to get Raine and Ellone, but finds Raine dead and Ellone gone.
The people of Winhill don’t like Laguna at all, so they don’t tell him anything.
With no leads, Laguna goes back to Esthar, probably still trying to find Ellone, but restricted by the new isolationalist policies.
That’s just how I see it. If you want to dispute any point, feel free! It’s been a while since I’ve played the game through…
Shit, if my son was a little angsty piss off like Squall, I’d leave too… lol, jk, I loved Laguna. Its been way too long since I’ve played 8 to formulate a solid opinion on that subject.
Yes, it’s very possible that the scene where Delita inturn stabs ovelia for attacking him takes place further in time than a couple weeks or months. Delita even looks like full grown royalty doting some nice robes and a slick hair do. Ovelia didnt change much, but then again, shes purdy for a girl with no nose anyway. I like to believe that Delita kills Ovelia and lives out the rule of his kingdom alone for the betrayal of his closest friend. Very nice closure on the story, and a good lesson to be learned. I sympathize with Delita, and yet I still hate him for Ramza and Alma’s sake.
Cid, Is there any truth to the rumor that you get a slightly different ending with Olan if you choose NOT to allow TG Cid into your party? It’d make sense seeing as how he didnt go with you and die…
Cid, Is there any truth to the rumor that you get a slightly different ending with Olan if you choose NOT to allow TG Cid into your party? It’d make sense seeing as how he didnt go with you and die…
I wouldn’t know. I’ve never tried it. But I’ve never heard it verified, either for truth or falsehood, either.
