Like, yo

Actually, I’ve only seen Svankmajer’s shorts, and his latest feature Sileni. But those are enough to be a fan. I’ve been holding out on the current DVDs of his feature length work, as apparently special editions are in the works in the UK, but I first got hold of that info in '07 (back when I was drooling over the BFI short film box set), and I’ve heard nothing since. I may rent some soon. Waiting sucks.

And. Actually, the source of my avatar predates Grateful Dead. Grateful Dead was formed in '65, I believe…my avatar is a still image from the '64 film Scorpio Rising.

Yes! You must see it! Your brain will thank you after it’s done weeping. :smiley:

Oddly enough, we are in reversed positions. I have seen Alice, but not his short work (I think I may have seen some of his short work in a surrealist film showing, but I do not fully recall- they did show Un Chien Andalou, of course). I haven’t watched that kinda stuff in ages. Hm. I should probably get renting!

And I have images off, so I didn’t see your avatar. You like Kenneth Anger, too! Holy shit. I haven’t seen anything of his in forever and a day! I feel kinda bad liking normal people like the Cohen Brothers. ^^;

Be careful, Jess. GAP might be falling in love with you.

That’s impossible, 984. I would never let anyone come between us. Kiss me, reploid lawyer!

His short work is just amazing, though. His earlier work, in the 60s and 70s, is a completely different animal from his later work; which his features are most similar too (I think; only seen Sileni). There’s a special kind of austerity and subtlety to The Flat and The Coffin House. I totally dig it.

Yo! Welcome. And yes, your avatar rocks.

Ew. No. Gross.

Welcome aboard :slight_smile: Always fun to get more wimmin 'round these parts, but not to worry, fortunately the amount of slobbering “oooh girl!” here is refreshingly low. Is one of the reasons I love this place :slight_smile:

It’s because whenever someone slobbers over a girl, there has later been a thread by that “girl” proving, once again, that there are no women on the internet.

So hi, I’m starting the betting pool for when you admit to being a man. :stuck_out_tongue:

You don’t remember that magical night? The one with the BEANS? ;.;

Welcome to RPGC. And all of the Dragon Quest games are good…always have…always will

Both are primarily about relationships that do not extend properly into marriage, thematically, and end with permed people killing things. Legally Blonde is an optimistic take on what can happens when one realizes before it is too late, Eraserhead is about when the world traps one in a marriage that was not meant to be.

Arac: Shit. That actually works. If I ever become a professor, I’m totally going to steal that.

sup :wave:

Wil alreay covered it, but welcome Jessica! Any friend of Val and GG is a friend to me. Have fun and don’t take anything too seriously around here or Charle will eat your face and it will look like your avatar.

Oh - 984 - I work with a girl you went to high school with. Wacky!

Really? Who?

Welcome! I take it that you’ve probably seen at least a few things by Werner Herzog – if so, what did you think?

While I wasn’t the one asked the question, I love Herzog (in general)! Heart of Glass is one of the best films I’ve ever seen.
