Okay, maybe I’m on crack, but isn’t there a track on the FFX soundtrack that’s from FFVII? A friend and I are discussing this, and for some reason I seem to recall hearing something about something from FFVII being put on the soundtrack to FFX and being in the game. Am I crazy, or do these games share a song?
Hmm…when I went on my downloading frenzy the other night, I found that a couple of them sounded extremely familiar, but I couldn’t place the tune in FFX. Maybe one of them was from FF7? It seems like a possibility, but as for a definate answer, I myself am not sure.
There’s no FF7 song in the game, or on the OST (at least on the downloaded copy I have), but I THINK it was on the Suteki Da Ne single or some other kind of short crazy FFX music album or something, a rendition of Aerith’s Theme sung by the same singer that sang Suteki Da Ne (I forget her name). I’ve heard it before, it’s quite teh pretty.
…the fact that much of the soundtrack, Uematsu’s tracks especially, suffers from a very strong “been there, done that” quality. Not that there’s too much borrowing done, but many of the arrangements and chord progressions are almost identical to past FFs
It’s like that with any composer. To a certain extent, Uematsu’s stuff sounds the same, Mitsuda’s stuff sounds the same, Sakuraba’s stuff sounds the same. That’s not saying that they’re deliberately trying to make a “music crossover”.
I have no idea how to differeentiate game composers. I can easily recognise certain well-known movie composers (hell, who can’t recognise Jihn Williams?), but I never, ever, ever, had an ear for videogames. Does it just come naturally to you guys or what?
I guess it comes naturally, Pierson. Just like for people who can identify a song after hearing 0.5 s of it. I don’t have any problem recognizing most composers’ style. It’s a lot harder to me to remember their names, but I’m gradually getting better at it.
