I would recommend getting Cowboy Bebop on DVD, as the whole series makes a lot more sense on the 2nd -4th rewatchings (although some people say the ending made them not want to watch it again, I did not have that problem)
Support Madman, they distribute all the good anime in Australia
Just finished watching Tenchi Muyo…And started watching Tenchi Universe…It bloody went Legend of Zelda on me! …Same Characters, different story kinda…like, wtf
Definatly go watch Serial Experiments: Lain. Other good ones are listed here, but I would watch slayers original before Next, and those two before Try. Since thats the order they go in
Nuratu is really good too. If you can get it, watch Spiral ^^
<img src=http://rotd.rpgclassics.com/Rud/Rud.gif> So…What is this ‘Serial Experiments: Lain’ thingy?..Since people say “Lain was awesome,” i’d like to learned me some mores
That’s something I want to see too…doesn’t it have something to do with Lain and going into the Wired? I don’t know if it’s called that, but the term seems familiar and I assume this is the anime where I got it from. There’s a good music video on Lain that you can download from kazaa and it targets a lot of its disturbing and pyschological aspects…a must see if you want to check out SEL.
Dark Sand has a good point in that Anime is NOT a Genre, it’s a Medium. It covers everything from sugary-sweet kid’s stuff to the most disturbing sexual stuff. So, it’s a matter of choosing WHAT genres you want to see. Sounds like you enjoy romantic comedies; there’s plenty of those. Tenchi certainly is one, and yes, each Tenchi series is a new version- probably because they don’t want to really resolve the Love Triangle it is based on.
BTW, don’t just stick to NEW animes. Even ones from the 80’s, or even 70’s, are very good, as long as you remember that the animation won’t be as good. But, the stories are worth it, take it from this OLD fan. Urusei Yatsura is certainly from the 80’s, and it was considered the best comedy of its time. (I never liked it much, but that’s because I don’t really go for wacko comedies, but it was certainly well made.)
One romantic comedy I recommend from the old days is ORANGE ROAD. It was about this teenager caught in a love triangle- things are complicated by the fact that everyone in his family has psychic powers, and he must keep it secret from everyone! And, unlike Tenchi, they DID resolve the triangle in the end. Give it a try if you ever find it.

Until one day, after a session of Warcraft 3 at school, im looking around at what to leech from my mates comp, when i find ‘Onegai Teacher’ DAMN, i was impressed.[/b]
So, you liked Onegai teacher over Akira. I won’t say anything…DIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIE!
Blood: The Last Vampire is a MUCH darker and cooler alternative to Buffy. Check it out, it’s actually fairly western in content and language. I’m surprised no-one has mentioned it yet.
