For those of you who don’t follow horse racing (which is probably most of you), this past Sunday was the Preakness, the second part of the Triple Crown (the first being the Kentucky Derby and the third being the Belmont Stakes). Now, normally I find the names of the horses to be the most interesting part of the event, but this year is different. Smarty Jones, the horse that won the Kentucky Derby, is from Philadelphia Park, and thus my family was rooting for him in the Preakness. Not only did Smarty win, but won by 11 1/2 lengths (breaking a record set in the first Preakness 129 years ago), and was still gaining after he finished. If Smarty wins the Belmont Stakes in about three weeks time, that will make him one of two horses that have won the Triple Crown with an undefeated record (he’s currently 8 for 8).

Yeah i’m gonna follow something in which horses are made to run daily till they are 4 or so and then they’re out to pasture basically. Pff gives my cat a balled up piece of paper Hilarious! Now thats entertainment ;p
