And I just purchased FEAR and Halo: Combat evolved.
Funny thing, really.
I’ve always blamed the controls as reason for my dislike of FPS’s. I havent played any since XIII, which had ugly controls, IMO. Before that I only realy played the original DOOM and Wolfenstein years ago. Those werent too bad. Playing halo with the PC control scheme of WSAD/mouse to look around, I find it much easier and intuitive. I feel behind the times having only played the original Halo now, but… eh.
Havent played FEAR yet, I’m installing it as I type this.
Question about the PC halo’s online play- can you play with users of XBox Live?
No, XBox Live is a seperate network. Also, the original Halo on the XBox isn’t online (there have been some ways I read, but ti isn’t standard, and most people play Halo 2 online now).
I know the game itself isnt online. I ment can you play the multiplayer with users of Xbox live, but you already answered that.
Fear’s cool. I wasnt sure if my system could handle it, but it does a fine job. I’m not used to the dark setting though, so b/t that and my relative inexperience with the game, not to mention poor eyes, I’m getting my ass handed to me in the second mission of the game -_-
Good choices. Not only do I think that computer FPS’s are just a TON better than console ones, I’ve heard the original Halo (from my friends who play with pros on 2 like STK/Ogres) is just a much, much better game than Halo2.
Y’know, I went through something like that. In fact, I’m pretty sure that somewhere in these forums I’ve said “I don’t DO FPS’s.” Then (I think) I played TRON 2.0, which isn’t a particularly good game, but it isn’t AWFUL, either; I think the thing there is that I didn’t exactly think of it as a FPS because the most useful weapon is basically a frisbee that takes no ammo. Next thing you know, I’m getting Half-Life. And stuff.
Halo 1 and Halo 2 are great games, just some people are pissed because they nerfed the pistol on Halo 2. On Halo 1 that thing was so overpowered it isn’t even funny. Some other various weapon changes also occured, but I like them both quite a lot. I do overall, however, prefer PC FPS’s to console.
Metroid Prime is definitely a FPS. You have the point of view of the main character, and you shoot stuff. The fact that (a) there’s a “third-person mode” and (b) shooting doesn’t solve EVERYTHING is just migitating circumstances.
Metroid Prime is much more of an adventure game than a FPS.
I’m actually strange and prefer console controls over the PC. I get more precision with the console and can do more of the other moves in games with a controller.
