Is Sephiroth Overrated?

Do You Think Sephiroth Is Overrated

If you would like, State a reason

As much as I’m gonna piss off all of the FF7 fanboys/girls with this answer, I’m gonna have to go with Yes. Why? Because Sephiroth is a whiny little bitch ass coward who dies and then his first clone has his other clones do the work for the first clone made from Jenova cells. nuff said

No. The only bad thing about him is he’s too easy, apart from that he kicks ass.
And just so you know Sephiroth never dies, he just ends up at the Northern Crater stuck in the lifstream shell thing you see when you give him the Black Materia…

Sorry bout that Seph dies, in the final Battle CLoud eliminates his remaining Willpower inside his mind

However he is not Overrated…

I was talking about in the reactor. I know he dies at the end.

I think he was a good evil person. Except for the Aries thing since I liked her alot…

Sephiroth was all style and no substance. Yes, he was a dangerous villain responsible for many deaths including Aeris’, and he nearly destroyed the World. But as a character, he was pathetic. He was COMPLETELY DELUDED about himself, his mother, the Ancients, the human race,Jenova, and even Cloud! I’m convinced he was little more than Jenova’s pawn all along. Maybe he’ll be more competent in Advent Children.

I don’t think I’ve ever agreed with Wil about anything, but yes, Sephiroth was all style and no substance. He’s a cool character, but that doesn’t make him a good character.

Come on, EVEN NYARLY’S LAST FORM WAS BETTER THAN SEPHIROTH!

Nyarly’s last form being a thousand masks floating around. I wish I was making this up folks, but go find out for yourself by playing Persona 2 : Eternal Punishment. Lots of bosses are cooler as characters as Sephiroth. People thinking Sephiroth is the best last boss ever makes me think FF7 is overrated as a whole.

Yes he is. Kefka is ten times better than him; EVERYBODY knows that. So are certain other RPG villains (like the ToS ones).

Yes. You see, I got into FF7 halfway through the year 2000 (hadn’t owned a Playstation until then), and I was lead to believe through all my friends and all the pages on the Net that Cloud was the greatest RPG hero ever and Sephiroth was the greatest RPG villian of all time. Maybe the hype is to blame, but I didn’t think Sephy was a very cool villian at all, nor did I find Cloud to be all that great of a hero.

Hojo, on the other hand… he was great!

That’s true, and he is the Badass who created Sephiroth, which made him an even greater Badass.

Not only is Sephiroth highly overrated, but all of FF7 is too. Let’s be frank, yes FF7 was a good game, but was it so great to create a whole internet’s worth of geeks fondling over it? No! FF7 had good music, an excellent system (come on, no one can deny that they at least remotely enjoyed the materia system), and during it’s time, it was the best game. But now, come on. Firstly, the characters lacked. They seemed a bit too cliched for me. The cold mercenary who had been experimented on in his past and now questions his very existence. It’s been done. Only one thing made that game what it is: Sephiroth killing Aeris. Who could think that the feminine looking psycho would dare hurt the sweet and innocent flower girl? Yes, it took us all by surprise but it wasn’t good enough to create an army of Aeris and Sephiroth fans. Plain and simply, Sephiroth is not the best villain out there, in fact he wouldn’t even make my top ten list. For all of you Sephiroth fans out there, stop fondling over the little pussy and play some other games so you can finally realize how stupid Sephiroth really is and we won’t have to listen to your freakin’ crap! Wow, talk about run-on sentences, but oh well.

Well, so is the fact that FFVII was the first RPG for a lot of gamers who didn’t get to see Kefka in his glory. :mwahaha:

Ok, I do have to admit though, I like Sephy, buuuut I like a lot of other evil dudes better. Like the guy in Xenosaga, and Ansem, and Seymour…yeah excentric bad guys rock.

I’d say yes he is overrated, only for the fact that I personally don’t feel that he alone is worth the mass fan-boy/girl crowd that he has. Then again, thats my opinion. But all in all, if so many people like him THAT much over all other badguys then it has to count for somthing. I mean, he wins the popular vote even if he shouldnt be president… lol

For sure.

So what if he has a huge sword. He must be compensating for something.

I assume you mean Albedo. He’s one of the more insanely fucked up villains I’ve seen.

Yes! That’s it, I forgot his name.-_-

A lot of you are just basing this poll on the fact that FF7 is one of the most popular games ever and OMG OMG! if lots of people like the game then it MUST be bad! I admit mass followings put me off but that’s no reason to judge a game or a character just because you’re totally badass to disagree.

I don’t think Sephiroth is over rated at all. He IS deluded…so what? He didn’t know anything…so what? If we had psychotic clowns in every FF game then that would suck. I hate FF villains that are all the same. So far we have the “holy shit where did HE come from?!” villain, the “omg I get to fight him a couple times because he does all his dirty work!” villain, the “pyschotic clown” villain, the “deluded, slightly unbalenced human who loves his mummy too much” villain, “the first sexy all powerful” villain, “damn he’s quite flamboyant…is that a she?” villain, the “false prophet or whatever” villain and the “hey our god was actually a criminal!” villain. Plus a few others. If they were all the same, most of you would still be bitching. So what if all Sephiroth does is piss and moan? That’s his character. He was the product of a deranged pyscho and a woman who let him, an experiment, be brought to life. If you learned something that contradicted what you knew about your childhood, how would you react? Would you be a big strong hero too? Would you start doubting other things? Would you run to the first trustworthy adult you knew? Sephiroth is just a child. No one made him out to be a strong badass with a huge sword, most of you just see him that way without thinking about it. he was a manipulated, sick human being. Was he the real villain? No he wasn’t, Jenova was. Jenova wasn’t even a woman, (and probably not a man either) so the fact that Sephiroth went to seek out this disgusting creature for comfort disturbs me. That’s why I love FF7 and Seph/Jenova so much because I get easily disturbed by this game, when most others wouldn’t. That may be the only reason I love the game, other than the music-is that whole plotline and creepiness right there.

So try to look past the whole long silver hair and sword thing. If you were stuck in ice would you be able to get out? Or would you try to wreck havoc and attack internally any way you could?
