If you're paranoid about spyware...

I find this site rather interesting…

http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/

Cool info on all of it, but It dosen’t really say how to destroy it. Luckily I have spybot. The program pownz and it’s free. I’ll post the url for it as soon as I find my PC magazine I saw it in.

Edit: here it is http://spybot.safer-networking.de/

Actually if DOES give instructions on how to get rid of it manually.

Oh, geuss i missed that while skimming.

That is a very good site. I used it when I was getting rid of Xupiter.

Yea, it loads quick, thats useful instead of scanning with adaware for however long it takes…

Within a few seconds of running spybot, it has found a number of things that adaware missed. In fact, I just ran adaware, and it found three things.

Im in the middle of running spybot, and so far, it’s found 23files…

Edit, it finished and found 193 files. Framey gets a hug.

Yes, it found a bunch of stuff on my computer too. Not a lot, but enough to have made running it worthwhile.

<img src=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/tenchimaru/td.gif”> How did all these sextracker things get on there? whistles innocently

Actually, 90% of the stuff it found on my computer wasn’t sextracker, it was a backweb thing. There had to be at leasy 70-90 of them on my computer.

I have to mention this: a big software company in US developed a program called, paradoxally, Anti-Leech, that causes malfunciton in pop-up killers.

The issue here is, they are thinking of adding a function to Anti-Leech in its next version that would make some spyware (the commercial most kind) irremovable except by uninstall/reinstalation of browser means.

btw, I forgot the name of the company, but its onwer says the program is called Anti-Leech because when people stop those commercial thingies in internet, they are taking away the profit of many companies while receiving the benefits those companies sponsor, therefore leeching them.

At last! The evil known as Xupiter has been vanquished! DIE, FOUL SPAWN OF SATAN!!! DIE!!!

It’s programs like Xupiter that make me doubt the existance of God.

Thats just plain evil.

Wow, I guess ad-aware isn’t perfect after all :stuck_out_tongue:

Yea, really. I had a lot of faith in Ad Aware. Lately, I had been having some popups and stuff, and it was bitchy. I couldnt figure out what was going on, but it wasn’t too annoying anyway.

So I’ve been running ad-aware maybe once a week lately, and it had only picked up on 23 or so the first week, and about 2 every week after that for about a month. I ran ad-aware and it picked up two new spywares. I run spybot and It picks up 193. 193. Thats a bitchen success story.

It seems that ad-aware only scans from the database of spware it has when you acquired the program, while this Search & Destroy program is very recent and frequently updated.

Xupiter isn’t the worst possible affliction. It’s actually pretty easy to manually remove.

Yea, there are worse ones. But Xupiter is somewhat annoying.

Yeah, I just got Spybot today too actually. I’m surprised, it’s a very nice program.

I got 118 Errors…and Got Spybot today…nice nice nice
