If you were in Middle Earth...

Really? Of the ones I read, that was probably my least favorite. I thought the third was incredible, even for a fantasy novel. The last few chapters left me awe struck.

I read a lot of sf and fantasy, with occasional excursions into quantum physics, cognitive psychology, martial arts…

[Yul Brynner]et cetera, et cetera, et cetera![/Yul Brynner]

I’ve been reading older stuff lately, Marrion Zimmer Bradley, Poul Anderson, Louis McMaster Bujold, and (very engaging) H.P. Lovecraft. I’ve got newer stuff on my list; Fred Saberhagen’s Berserkers, Terry Brooks’ new books (Running with the Demon, etc…), Larry Niven’s Known Space, particlularly the Man-Kzin wars stories. And I’ve got back issues of Issac Asimov’s Science Fiction Magazine extending from 1979 to 1997. I’m in mid 1980 at the moment.

I read somewhere between four and nine books at a time, usually keeping two about my person and reading either as the fancy takes me. Thus, I go through a lot of material.

Kor, SE: I think we should start an elven brotherhood in the forums.

Then I better get my ass into learning Quenya.

Guys, setting up an Elven brotherhood would be like becoming human shields during a nuclear war. pointing to Val.

Val, the fact that ONE elf screwed up one of your games doesn’t make all of them bad. Actually, I think you’d get along with some of them like Fëanor (Before he went happy trigger at least).

Oh, no! I hated Elves LONG before that game! I was just pointing out the irony that I once died due to the incompetance of an elf!

And yeah, Glenton speaks the truth, deciding to join an elven brotherhood is like just painting yourselves red, and shouting “Valkyrie Esker’s a candy-assed weakling!”

I’d be Elvish of course

I ended up with:

I think that is pretty cool!

I’d call Star Wars more Space Fantasy then Science Fiction. There is absolutely no scientific basis in the SW series.

Hobbit

You take the joy out of everything, do you know that?

And the original Star Wars was really two things when you think about it, a space opera and a western. Only instead of colt .45’s and horses they had laser guns and X-wings.

The difference is, I really don’t like science fiction… but I like unrealistic Space Fantasy and Space Operas. ^^;;

Unless its really WEIRD- I like that type of Sci Fi…

Three was definitely spectacular. I liked the ending of book two a little more, even though it wasn’t stunning in the same way. Robert Jordan packed so much meaning into that last fight, tied it in with so many other scenes.

I thought the blowing of the horn was a bit overdone. It didn’t seem as monumental to me as I thought it should have been, which is probably why I dont hold it as high in regard as others.

The time in which the castle in tier is taken though is what really gets me, and that is also one of the major points of the prophecy, and it fills it so well, that it really just amazes me how such seemingly insignificant things fold in together to put together that perfect whole.
