I never said all guy gamers have. I said I don’t think it’s true that most haven’t.
It depends on how you define gamer. If you’re talking people that spend at least, say… 4 hours a week playing games, you’re going to get a huge number of college students and even people in the workforce. Also if we take “guys” to mean any male that’s hit puberty, we exclude the child demographic, further increasing the numbers of gamers who have at least gotten to third base.
I don’t mean to make such a big deal out of it, as it’s an innocent enough statement. But I feel that it’s a harmful stereotype that is 20 years out of date. Worst of all, it seems to be perpetuated mostly by the very people it stereotypes.
Mainly because it’s an ironic and stupid joke.
