What kinds of threads are allowed, and what kinds of threads are not allowed? Also, what is the purpose of this place?
Here’s a list of the types of threads that should not exist:

It’s time to stop posting on here. This forum is dead. Everybody go home. It was fun while it lasted, but it really is time for everyone to stop posting on here. I am very sorry to be the one to say this. Just stop. Please. No more posting.

CPUjunky doesn’t seem to be on the air anymore. For those of you who don’t know: CPUjunky was the best NES/SNES emulation site on the net. CPUjunky had something most other emulations sites lack- character. You could always count on CPUjunky’s hate list to feel like you have something in common with another human being. You could always count on the CPUjunky official forum to have the same 14 threads, which is very important because we all need a solid constant in our lives. Good night, sweat junky."

How do I get ZSNES to only play one sound at a time? I’m trying to get the soundtrack for F-Zero but whenever I dump the SPC data I get the sound of the car with the music.

What’s so great about video games? I guess I haven’t been playing the right ones, because lately I think they all suck. So what is your favorite game and why is it your favorite? YOU ONLY GET TO CHOOSE ONE.

Dear GOD BLESS AMERICA…I know you stole the idea from me from when I had done a shitty photoshop of me onto an american flag background. Don’t worry, I don’t mind. I kind of like it, you put in more work than I did. I mean, it’s not like you went onto a forum with some douchey american 2nd amendment name and posted with the attitude of your common americunt.
Maybe it is because the theme sucks, but I have noticed that all the threads are really declining in quality lately. Let’s discuss and make suggestions on how we can all start making better threads. Suggestions: Make the threads more question based, instead of the usual “hey look what I found”

Remember that counsel thing from a while back? Well, now I can’t get them to shut up. I get wrapped up in arguments and conversations and all sorts of BS. That thing Willfredo mentioned in the thread I linked, that happens as well, except it is involuntary and it is always just me in different story lines (usually horrible things happening to loved ones[my dogs, the only things I truly love in this world]). I can’t get it to stop and it is keeping me from sleep. The only thing that helps is getting so fucking high that I can’t think at all. My question is how do I get help without freaking anyone out?
Gunslinguh’s new avatar thread. Well? I have had this picture lying around for a while. I did just now notice that it is in black and white, and also that Sin’s is in black and white. I hope he doesn’t think I was trying to copy him, at least there is a picture of me in there, and not some guy from The Beatles.

So I was changing my av right? Then I was like, WHOOOOAAAHm, suikoden avatars? How long have we had so many avatars to choose from? Also, I think my new one will do fine for now. Please don’t change it just yet.
How come we don’t have…Straight pride parades, Jet packs, Submarine cars, Underwater lairs and cities, Something that can go to the bottom of the Marianna Trench, Lightspeed, Warp-speed, Wanka-speed, Pills to make my dick bigger (ones that actually work), Android bodies, Androids, Sentient Computers. I mean come on! It’s 2010! I propose that the new RPGC group project be a scientific research commitee that creates these long objects that will some how better man-kind. Who is with me? If you grant me your time and money now, if you take a step towards the future, if you just give life a chance! We can begin. We can rise from the past into a future so far unknown! All I need is a chance.

And now, the moment a bunch of you have been waiting for…(the reason I get banned) Wait for it…

New thread. It’s about what you think will happen to the world and how civilization works once we have robots doing everything for us.

Themes. Just sayin. It sounds to me like a job for somebody with free time.

Here is something just as pointless as everything else. I didn’t know how to say Charlemagne until a few weeks ago, so I used to just read it phonetically in my head. Now that I know how to say it, I still read it phonetically when I know that it is referring to RPGC’s own. Char la mag neh. Shar la mane
That about sums it up.
<3
I am impressed.
Pure guessing, but that list was like 50% GSG, 25% Charl, and 25% misc.
100% vintage GSG.
Only I should be allowed to post. Only me. Me posintg. Forever…into eternity. I will post to the limit. to the extreme. Always posting, I will marry my posting.
Some people keep making metaposts, posting about posting. Me, I like to remember the times when I everybody has sprites for avatars, new RPG’s were discussed with enthusiasm and naked lesbian twins were the norm.
Also, discussing politics and troll science.
Hey Ren I might have to go to Brazil for work this Autumn how do I not get killed for being the whitest white whitey in the whitey world. also where is the best fejoiada (sp) thanks so much in advance!!!
GSG, I’m honestly sorry that your enthusiasm for this website is only rewarded with disdain.
If you had joined years ago, you would have enjoyed a thriving website with dozens of posts each day and hundreds of threads a year. We played games with eachother, we chated, we met in person. We had discussions about fun exciting ideas and a few of us even fell in love on this website. In a few months it will mark my 10th year since I joined and in that decade I have met friends, made enemies and watch people I’ve gotten to know over the years leave, one by one. Even I am slowing down, losing interest, growing weary of the constant hypocrisy and fun-killing. I don’t even check this board every week anymore. And of course I have better things to do than waste time on a failing video game message board, I don’t even really play video games. But, after a decade, I grew to love this place, and I may never actually leave for good. But it makes me sad to see what it’s become. See, you joined just in time to watch the death rattle. The last gasps of air before the final great deletion.
yawn
.
If this is enthusiasm, I’d hate to see GSG on a grumpy day.
What’s funny is that, until Charlemagne’s recent thread was closed, causing him to feel more kinship with GSG, GunslingerGuy was his favorite punching bag:

THE WORLDS WORST POSTER HAS TO GO! He is intentionally making terrible threads and terrible posts. Not even funny, he’s just trying to piss us all off. I don’t know how he has made 150 posts without anybody complaining
When Charlemagne says, “GSG, I’m honestly sorry that your enthusiasm for this website is only rewarded with disdain,” what he really means is, “RPGC, I’m honestly sorry that my own enthusiasm for seeking attention on this website is only rewarded with disdain.” The moment Charlemagne feels cool and respected again, he will return to grinding GSG beneath his online heel. Ironically, he laments the lack of posts about “about fun exciting ideas” and complains about “constant hypocrisy,” but this is just one more example of where a “Poster Should Follow His Own Advice.”
So…Know any new RPGs? Ones with naked lesbian twins that discuss politics and/or troll science?
Wow, that was a very moving speech! …well said Charle!
However, does this mean that there’s no point in us (newbies) being here! I mean, I can say for both GSG and I, that we may not have been members of this board for long but we have used this website for close to a decade… so in a sense, we too feel somewhat connected to this place! I used the shrines back in the days and even if I didn’t need them, I always enjoyed looking at them anyway! I too feel an enormous regret of not joining earlier! However my personal goal… is to be someone that contributed to the forums and the website in general before it does eventually cease to be active (hoping it’s not too soon!) As you mentioned, I know for a fact that that many of you veterans of the RPGC will never be able to leave this place for good… as has been said before –> This is more than just an online community! …It’s an online family! wipes away tears
I’ve also used this site for longer than I can remember- definitely more than a decade. So I only signed up on the forums at the end of 2004; I didn’t even know what a forum was until 5 or 6 months before that.
It’s true this place has changed a lot since I was really active; I can think of a half dozen people that may not have been the best posters ever, but at least made the site interesting. It’s a shame too, I came back hoping to get to know some people again and have a few more friends to talk to, but that hasn’t really happened. Life changes and a lot has happened to all of us since then.
I think to this day I’m the only person to have met Setz in person. At least I hope so, he was kind of a dink :V Sure he was annoying, but at least it was funny to read all of his “HELP ME GUYZ I DID SOMETHING DUMB” threads~
Still, it’s nice to know the place is here, even if it’s not the site it used to be. I figure as long as there’s somebody to pay the bills, it won’t die 'till we let it.
Ah, I remember that. All the while you were narrating your little journey all I could think of was “Why the hell would you even go at all?”.
In any case I echo the sentiment that so long as this place is here, so will I. I’ve been coming here for eight goddamn years, it’s simply part of my system by now.
You know, I always wanted to MAKE one. Someday I’ll fulfill this dream.
I don’t know if you’re being serious or not, but if you do happen to come by I’ll give you some pointers on how to survive the sun. I’ve been to FLA and TX and I can say we get more radiation here, and I think the fact that I’m as pale as the average nerdy american despite the daily overdose of UV is quite an achievement.
Needs moar Zepp.
The biggest things I miss were the Tower of Babel, bitching about the Tower of Babel, and all things mIRC. Ah when we were all mostly young and not pushing 30.
All that’s left is facebook, just so we can see everyone’s ugly mugs.
yawn
You’re right, that was the first post i’ve made that’s gotten closed. It has taken a huge emotional toll on me. Gimme a break. GSG makes some fucking terrible posts, I didn’t say he didn’t. But now I realized that he likes RPGC and now I feel bad for him.
Ha. You think I’ve ever felt cool or respected here. You’re accusing me of being a hypocrite, acting like you’ve caught me and now you’re calling me out on it. Like I said, I feel bad for him now, he wants this place to not suck anymore, what’s not to feel bad about? Does that make his posts any less shitty? Nope.
Speaking as someone in a business industry now, if you don’t constantly take care of your endeavors, they slow down. We all grew up, went to college, and got jobs. It may be sad for some of the people who were here even longer than me and spent more time here, but we all got busy. Sin’s having his brain siphoned out in med school, 984’s a lawyer now (congrats, by the way, how’s that going?), and SK is apparently finishing a PhD or something to that effect. Responsibilities piled up, moreso with this atrocious job market that a few people have vented about in the past.
Thus RPGC missed any potential window, and I’m not trying to be critical. Sin will testify to this; the site is basically outdated. There have been some neat ideas like the Wiki or Wil’s comment on the TVTropes page (a huge stretch, but I could have seen it working seven years ago). The Internet’s a vastly different place than it was when RPGC was more active, and to get RPGC ‘going’ again would take a huge amount of time and effort that, based on anecdotal evidence, none of the admins or even regulars have.
It still seems overly pessimistic to view the sight in particular as dying because everything is finite. RPGC probably seemed as immortal in 2003 as Facebook or Twitter do now, and for all we know those could both be on the verge of extinction in five years (if anything they’ll get even bigger, but I never rule anything out with the work I do). Cherish the memories and remember the good times you had.
