Alright, so it looks like Tim Burton won’t be the director. cries. The director is going to be Christopher Nolan. Michael Uslan is going to be the producer. The plot is being developed by David Goyer. The movie is coming up on 2005, not 2004. It’ll be either on 1st or 4th of July.
Michael Caine is Alfred, Christian Bale is Batman, Cillian Murphy is one of the villains. Dennis Quaid is comissary Gordon. John Malkovich would be Ra’s Al Ghul.
The movie is totally unrelated to previous ones. It shows Batman’s story from the beggining. Not in a line, but as him telling his life story like in Spiderman - just that there is a back-and-forth going in time as he remembers his past througout the first half of the movie.
The main villain will be one of the assets of Ra’s Al Ghul. There are rumors about a second villain appearing. Other villains will be mentioned (he totally HAS to mention Joker). Looks like some villains will appear, but as they were BEFORE becoming villains.
Some people have been saying that Dennis Quaid is too young to be Gordon. Well, the movie shows an early batman, so I think it’s ok.
There have been other movies with all-star casts that have totally sucked, so the big names associated with this one shouldn’t automatically make us more hopeful.
I sort of liked Batman I. Its one of those movies from my childhood. Batman Returns was alright. Batman 3 and 4 sucked. This movie is only being made because of the success of Spider-man; all of a sudden comic book movies are profitable in the eyes of Hollywood business. Anyway, I have no idea if this one’ll revive the Batman franchise or not, but I’m a little cautious, because in my opinion movies with big casts usually are overhyped and then end up sucking.
Roun, he’s directed a few movies since then. Mars Attacks!, Sleepy Hollow, Planet of the Apes, and Big Fish from what I can remember. He’s also slated for a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie, so you know that will be fucked up.

Oops. I meant a Batman movie. Yeah, I know about Charlie and the Chocolate factory. He plans to do it much closer to the book than the other version.
I’m probably in the minority, but I was never totally satisfied with any of the Batman movies. Too wierd (and too much attention hogged by Hollywood Stars.) Hopefully this one will be better done.
My one big problem with Batman has always been: the costume. I mean, does he REALLY believe it scares criminals!? If I were doing a Batman movie, I would have him wear a more realistic Bat-creature disguise, and develop the Superhero Costume for when he realizes he must interact with non-criminals as well.
BTW, Al Ghul is about the ONLY good Batman villain. Now, don’t take me wrong- the Joker is interesting, Catwoman is sexy, etc. But NONE of them are a match for Bats, in either intelligence or fighting ability. I can hardly believe they give Bats any trouble. Only reason they keep coming back for more is because of Bat’s vow against killing, otherwise-
Sometimes they do something that deserves respect. I had a comic book in which they launched a collection of postal stamps with portraits of the greatest humorists ever who have died. Woody Allen, the Three Spooges, Chales Chaplin… They were all there. But Joker wasn’t, even though he thought he should be there for being such a joker. Of course, he only got to know he had to be dead to get into those stamps after actually killing a few people in the mail who were in charge of it.
Meanwhile, a man killed a lot of people using a contact poison that makes people laugh and die in a few seconds. The corpse still keeps the big smile in the face. He washed a lot of stamps with such a poison while they were being printed, so when people licked the stamps to glue them to letters they died.
Seemed like Joker’s job, even though it wasn’t. Yet he went to the police and went to court by his own will. He was condemned to death. Batman, of course, as much as he hated Joker, wouldn’t let him die for something he had not done. So he strives to prove Joker’s innocence. And Joker tries to convinve Batman to leave him alone, for he had to pay for “his” sins.
It was the best Batman comic book ever, but I gave it to someone who was much more of a fan than me, and I forgot the name of the story >_<
