I need more help

For awhile, I have been in a very politically active mood. As some as you may know, there is a very disgusting seal hunt going on in Canada, and to keep it short, I’m opposed to it. But I don’t want to be one of those people who complain and decide not to do something, or leave it to someone else to do it.

Do any of you know any methods for which I can get my voice heard? Or to at least fight it? I’m thinking petitions right now, but I wouldn’t know who to send it to…I’m thinking federal government, but would it help to pass it on to someone local, as well? I’m not sure.

I don’t know what else to do. Any suggestions?

If you were in America, I’d say ‘write your congressperson.’ In Canada, I’m not familiar enough with their government to know what the name of the person at that level would be.

Just out of curiosity, are you opposed to it because you’re opposed to fur in general, you’re opposed to killing animals for any purpose, you’re opposed to killing wild animals, you’re opposed to the methods employed to kill the seals, you’re opposed to killing baby animals, or because you think seals are cute? I’ve heard people opposed to seal hunts with all sorts of combinations of the above reasons, (some of which are more legitimate than others).

I don’t want to start a discussion on the pros and cons of seal harvesting (I have little opinion on the issue), but your rationale behind your protest is very important for how to best go about it.

haha all of the above maybe? cute :3 Actually, I am opposed to fur in general, and the methods used to kill and skin the seals. You raise a valid point, so I guess that’s the first step in getting people to understand you…understand why you want to be heard in the first place.

And Xelo, how do I find that information? I don’t pay much attention to who is who in the provinicial government…

Haha well. If I could enlist the help of RPGC, it would be a start :slight_smile: But as of now, no. I guess I’ll just have to do it the old fashioned way

Maybe organize some kind of a boycott of the coats or whatever products made from the seals thus making it economically unfeasable to kill the animals.Let the hunters know you are not going to buy any coat made from the fur of the animals-
