Umm- actually…
Since it was a Supreme Court ruling, all of those laws were struck down. At least, thats what I read in the paper.
Not only that, but when you go to the Supreme Court, they aren’t looking to see if you are guilty or not- but rather if the law is right or not. They have the right to change these laws.
Hello- like I said- these laws are innefective now- those people who keep saying “OMG- I’M OUTRAGED,” well… you’re getting worried over nothing.
And its also proof that people either don’t read MY posts- or they just don’t read all posts carefully…
I bet you at least one more person in this thread will get frustrated at the laws that don’t exist.
And Cyber: Actually, they also decide whether or not you’re guilty too. That used to be ALL they could do until the policy of judicial review was established from Marbury v. Madison.
Yes. You are correct. I haven’t studied history in a couple of years. Shows you that AP scores don’t mean anything (I got a 4 out of 5 for American History).
Other funny laws I remember: looks like in Washington, if you are going to crash into a house and steal stuff from there, you have to send a letter to the person who lives there at least one week before doing so, informing him or her of your intentions.
There’s also a city in US where bycicles gotta have a bell or something alike that may be heard from afar, but even though not having one of these in your bike is against the law, another law forbids people to use such sonorous devices.
Well, at least it’s not as bad as some Roman laws. One of the emperors once created this law: “If there are two suspects of a crime, and it is not possible to know who the criminous is for sure, the guilty one is the ugliest of the two.” Another, I think Nero, created this one: “all women in the empire who are 12 or older have to work as prostitutes, selling their bodies for the price of one coin.”

Yeah, but I think it was to “discourage” homosexuality through “fear tactics”. That’s the only “logical” explanation to this.
Let’s make our own dumb laws! “It is unlawful” … um … “for web sites with pornographic content to do so between the hours of” … well, it doesn’t matter, really, but let’s just say … “8 AM and 9 PM.”
They actually have something like that in Germany.
[CENSORED] you! I just don’t like dumb laws that serve no purpose at all.
I’d have no problems if a certain girl I know was to do that to me…
DOH! Did I say that out loud? hides
