Last Friday in school, I had an assembly and it turns out it was one of those motivational shows they put on.MAAD made this movie that’s an hour or so long and they’d showed my school, stuff like how drugs and alcohol affect your life and whatnot and stressing not to abuse them or submit to peer pressure.It was “serenaded” by a lot of modern music like Avril Lavigne (gag), Our Lady Peace, etc.I just find it funny however that the song they used to open up the whole movie sequence was by Weezer.

I mean, I dont think the song has any relation to drugs, and the song means something entirely different (I dunno) but it seemed a bit amusing to me at the time.

We had something similar, except it revolved around being safe on prom night. Our resource officer had a friend of hers who works in that department talk to us. I guess he was like a Highway Nark, somebody who specilized in drug and alcohol abuse, and was a highway patrolman. His name was Corporal Blunt
Reminds me of the pre-prom/graduation assembly the year before mine. The counceler old some story of a girl that died on prom night as a warning and everyone was asleep or not paying attention, and some guy stands up and starts clapping waking up everyone else who follow his lead and stand and clap. Never had an anti drug assembly.
Meh, our school doesn’t bother with the whole “drugs are bad, don’t do drugs” kinda crap. Naw, considering the school I go to, we just have support groups for those trying to quit drugs instead.
We don’t get all those ‘don’t do drugs!’ lectures either, not in assembly. We have PSE (personal social education) lessons for stuff like that. But generally, I think they reckon we’re not gonna.

I just feel that they are a good way to get some rest, during the middle of a day:boring: Although the next one, and my last one of the year, will be voting for awards given out on our last day. So it may be better than usual :moogle:

Yeah, it’s the same thing, but for some reason, we don’t have health thing (?!). My class has that second to last on a friday, so it gives me a chance to revise German quickly if there’s a test coming up, or to, like you, sleep! lol The last thing we did was jobs etc., and we had to give a talk on a prospective career. Not good! :eek: You try standing up in front of 29 others to talk about nursing! (I chose that cause I was stuck and didn’t know what to do!)
Even though you didn’t like the modern music, at least you had that. Whenever I saw those movies it was some house band that really sucked. It reminded me of 70’s porn music.
Nah, I liked the modern music, just some of it was so cliche.And yeah, usually people dont listen to it, because in reality, it doesnt happen to everyone, as it implies.

It scary. i think they did something like that once but everyone was asleep or something and i was playing snake on a cell phone so i don’t remember either.

My ones happen at different lessons each week, 'cause they cover the regular timetable, so I guess the school does not want us to miss too many of one lesson. I actually have my last one tomorrow, at fifth lesson, instead of maths.
