Piecing together the personality the game has portrayed, as well as the slight visual clues the game presents, I will envision what I believe this character would be like a in real-life scenario. It’s the same thing as women who get all horny after reading a romance novel about Fabio. Do you say “I don’t understand how someone can find a series of tiny, scribbly symbols attractive”? That’s completely missing the point of what is attractive about the fictional character.
If anything, newer Final Fantasy games have LESS attractive characters, since they pretty much take the whole imagination part out of the process.
Like Hiryuu said it is fun to fantasize. The 16 bit sprites give you a simple outline and you can modify as you choose from there.
Hiryuu, i find myself saying the same thing about Anime. Not just hot girls… but over-all, i like the way anime communicates the idea. Hell, what part of “Hollywood” is real anyways ? “Ohh yeah… that giant CG Hippogriff is realistic…” Anime doesnt have to try and look realistic, and it does take millions of dollars just to CG a snake that only goes “hiss” and slithers away… If they re-made some of my favorite fantasy movies from the 80’s, they would so totally suck… why ? Because, there is something more realistic about an actor hacking off a rubber head, than using a CG sword to hack off a CG head… Granted, some CG can look awesome, like in The Last Samurai, when Cruise cuts that guys head off. I almost didnt believe it was CG.
So, to concur with Hiryuu, i was reinterate that it isnt the pixels and sprites we are attracted to, but the idea that is communicated to our imaginations.
I agree with Hiryuu too. It’s not the sprite that I’m attracted to in FFIV; it’s Rydia. She’s sweet and caring and she treats both human and monster alike with love and kindness. I’m attracted to girls like that. A sweet, good-natured girl who’s always willing to cuddle. 8)
I prefer WOMEN over girls any day. But nothing pisses me off more than a full grown woman who acts and talks like a little girl. 60% of anime’s females annoy the shit out of me when I watch it subbed.
