Homework - PC/Mac/Linux - CAD

Ok, For the an assinment I have been given. I have to surgest A computer primalrly used for Computer Aided design for a Small thecincal drawing and Design company. It is surgested in the origanal Notes that I should look at other Operating Systems other than Windows. Since I have Little knowallage about Linux or the Apple Mac’s. I would like to know your thoughts on:

Windows XP (any) (Prefreby from a MAC or LINUX user view point, but all are considered.)
Macs (Partucally regular users)
Linux (Partucally regular users)
Any CAD software for any/all (ie AutoCAD)
GIMP Image editor

Of couse, I will credit all relevent quotes when and if use them. If you want me to use your real name and don’t want to give it on the Forum feel free to PM or e-Mail me.

I’m a Linux user and regularly use The Gimp. It is good for my purposes; yet, there are better programs for professional use (e.g. Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro). Most Software for Design is released for Windows and Mac, so I’d suggest one of these two OS’.
