HOLY FINAL FANTASY OVERLOAD!!

the in-game FF soundtracks arent too hot. It’s really the piano and orchestral versions, not to metion the godly rock versions that really bring out their beauty.

But outside of FF, I believe Xenogears has definately one of the best soundtracks.
You’re probably gonna say “crono trigger” but I thought that game was pretty overrated.

Mitsuda fan, I see =) Not a bad thing… although I’m personally very tired of both Uematsu and Mitsuda… again, it’s just me…

As for Chrono Trigger, I grew up with it, and it’s a true classic of the SNES, so I can’t bash it.

For Xenogears, I can’t bash either as I’ve never beaten it due to lack of interest =/

man, you’re 5 seconds from a harsh blow in the nuts.

Fine, lets just agree that Guilty Gear Isuka is the best soundtrack of all time and be done with it.

GG Isuka < GGX : Heavy Rock Tracks Sorry. :stuck_out_tongue:

And to see what I like : Here’s my definite list of favorite composers, with example work in parentheses.

Noriko Matsueda (Racing Lagoon)
Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill Series)
Toshiyuki Sasagawa (Tengai Makyou Zero)
Shinji Hosoe (Cyber Sled)
Ayako Saso (Rolling Thunder 2)
Takayuki Aihara (Victorious Boxers)
Nobuyoshi Sano (Tekken Tag Tournament)
Jeremy Soule (Secret of Evermore)
Hitoshi Sakimoto (Final Fantasy Tactics)
Motoi Sakuraba (Valkyrie Profile)
Yasuhisa Watanabe “Yack.” (Border Down)
Chris Vrenna (American McGee’s Alice)
Koji Hayama (Gran Chaser)
Yoshitaka Hirota (Shadow Hearts Series)
Riow Arai (Front Mission Alternative, example of solo work is Mind Edit(non-vgm instrumental hip-hop)).

Damn. You’re pretty hardcore.

DragonsRevenge=pwned

performs harry karry

You do realize that “harry karry” is both an improper spelling and not a method of suicide, right?

kills himself for not doing it properly

He’s also a hillarious SNL character who loves hot dogs.

That’s a lot of music… but I’m not a huge fan of FF arranged tracks. Still, it might be worth seeking out.

That is alot.

You people are making my head go, “Woooooooooo!..”

Here Kiro : Game Music Info to make your head spin 10 times more :stuck_out_tongue:

Of course, this dosen’t contain all of Game Music… still loads to be discovered, but it is a great reference.

I WANT THIS. REALLY BADLY.

Tell you what Dalton : I’ll look for it =) If I find it, I’ll send it your way =D

Thank you very much! 8)

The composer’s name is Hiroshi Kondo, just so you know. I believe there were 3 OSTs released, but Volume 2 is the best one by far because it contains the in-game music. The game is the little known about sequel to Landstalker for the Genesis and the prequel to TimeStalkers for the Dreamcast. It holds a very special place in my heart, and I love the music to death. 8)

I was kind of surprised by the Star Ocean 3 soundtrack. Sakuraba’s finally found an actual sound kit. 8p

Cid : Star Ocean 3 is unarguably excellent work by Sakuraba… it’s still nowhere near the brilliance of Baten Kaitos, tho :stuck_out_tongue:

Ugh… Harry Caray is not just some SNL character. He was the beloved broadcaster for the Chicago Cubs who died in 1998, after broadcasting for over 50 years. Will Ferrel’s character is just an impersonation. It’s sad that more people remember the SNL version than the real Harry though…=(

DragonsRevenge was probably trying to spell “hara kiri”, but I’m sure everybody figured that out already.

And even though everybody’s trying to be cool by bragging about how awesome all these obscure soundtracks are, I’d like to take this opportunity to mention that the FF7 Piano Arrangement fucking kicks ass. The piano is the only instrument that can, by itself, create music as beautifully as an entire orchestra. Although the acoustic guitar does pretty good in that regard as well…

And even though I hate the word “pwned”, I think I’ll save this quote for posterity…

Who’s Got the TA Sound track, I’ve Like the GBA Sound so How much better is Disc 2, on this ver http://www.gamemusicimages.com/sscx10083.html

Big Nutter
I might Buy it

The problem with the piano collections, is that some of the songs dont translate well to the piano at all.

Which is why Piano Collections only do about 10 or 12 songs per game.
