Hey Cid, what're your thoughts on FFTA?

I really like this game it seems to me being very funt and lots of play time :yipee:

Man… i still wish i could have played FFT though :too bad;
I must find it!

Question… is there any real point to fighting all these battles when my turf is attacked? I know having lots of turf pulls prices down, but I’ve already bought everything in the shops and I no longer really have any use for money. ^^; Is there any other reason I should keep protecting my turf? 'Cause it’s starting to get really annoying.

Personally, the only thing I like about this game over the original is the race/class restrictions. Other than that, the FFIX ability system makes it a pain in the ass to switch classes, because you may get stuck with a crappy weapon for a while. Story, so far non existant (13 hrs through, but I’ve been facing other clans and doing side missions also, not just story battles). Characters… let’s see, we’ve got a cripple who makes fun of his brother’s clumsiness, and the very model of an overly precocious, man hating lesbian. Basically, the product of poor writing.

Don’t get me wrong, the game is still fun. It’s only the games that I enjoy buy think could still be better that I nit pick at like this.

I usually recapture turf. As if you don’t you end up with the same turf dispatch missions over and over. If you want to spread your turf further you should take them back

Graphics/sounds? Nice. The rest? BORING o_O I threw the game into the corner after 3 hours or so. It’s nothing in comparison to FFT.
And I will never forget what they did to the moogles ;; How could they? ;;

I like FFT better than this. Laws, while fun, can be too annoying at times (missiles forbidden while you have a few Archers ><). Too friggin’ annoying for my tastes. I just plow through the enemies anyway. I WANT MY ENEMIES TO HIT ME! ><\

And this new “front almost always misses, side is OK, back is best” as far as hitting goes is DUMB. While a good idea, I hate it. I dunno why; I just do. FFT had something similar to this, but it wasn’t as steep a penalty as in FFTA.

I really liked FFTA, mind you I nevr played FFT, and I haven 't seen anywhere that sells it ;_;

Can’t use e-bay, plus my dad hates internet shopping.

It gets a bit repetitive, but it’s nice.

OK… I’m up to 282 missions done! Woo! Gonna start on the FFC update soon. One thing I was unable to find, though, is official FFTA art of any decent quality. (I could only find the three main characters and no Jobs or anything else.) Anybody know of any websites that have this?

Oh, and while I’m here, can anyone give me the official spelling of the last names of all the characters (whoever has last names)?

I believe that Rpgamer has a bit of artwork, and some of the names listed. In fact, here’s the link.

I was also reading a Gamespy Review and they had a few screenshots, and some high-quality art.

My Wal-Mart still has, like, 10 copies of FFT that haven’t been touched. Oh… and is it just me, or is Marche a bloody wussy?

I’ve seen the RPGamer stuff (it’s pretty crappy quality), and I can’t find any artwork at all in the other link you mentioned.

Well, it was in with the screenshots , but I guess thats pretty much the same stuff that was at RPGamer.

About as much as Ritz is a lesbian and Doned is a hypocrite.

Which, between you and me, is a lot. :hahaha;

Mewt = teh mammas boy

Well, I was midway thru the game when I decided to start it over. I just wasn’t leveling my characters right; I failed to notice that characters sent to Dispatch missions earn NO experience! It got to the point were I had to fight lots of random battles to level up, and I got bored. And I was already midway thru the game (100 hours!!) It’s also possible that the fact I was using so many characters (my goal was to get ALL classes and ALL skills) slowed down the leveling up, since I had to keep switching characters.
But I’m doing much better now. I also realized how to use Mission Items in Battles, and it’s been a GREAT help! And I’m again trying to earn all classes/spells, but I’m being careful about leveling them all proportionately.

As for my opinion on the game, I HATE the use of laws, especially since I kept forgetting to check them before battle, and didn’t know how to use Law Cards. I won’t let that stop me, thought. The story isn’t very good so far, but the fact the stars are children is nice… in fact, I get the STRONG impression FFTA was intentionally “written down” for kids, since they’re the majority of GBA users. (The story in FFT was definitely WAY more serious.) I’ll be doing a FULL review and posting it in the Boards once I finish the game.

BTW, Cid, in case you haven’t found out the full characters’ names yet, here they are:
MARCHE RADIUJU
MEWT RANDELL
RITZ MALHEUR
DONED RADIUJU
CID RANDELL
BABUS SWAIN
LLEDNAR TWEM (which is Mewt’s name backwards!)
EZEL BERBIER

The other characters don’t have last names.
I got these from the official FFTA guide, BTW.

Funny, did the same thing.

I don’t really hate laws, but I forget to check them before battle as well.

I kind of lost interest on FFTA half-way through the game. The battles are very repetitive and the story itself is not very appealing. FFT was much much better in terms of story, even though it’s battles also got quite repetitive after some time. :boring:

Well, I finally finished the game. And then I found out that a quarter of the game (or more) is only available AFTER you finish the game. O_o So I finished that part too. 8p And I actually found the story to be far more interesting after all 300 missions are done and you start policing the judges. :sunglasses: I’m now messing around with cheat codes to capture everybody’s face and sprite, heehee… I love appearance-change codes. 8p

Wilfredo: Thankupo!
