Has it really been 3 years?

First The GIA, and now its bastard child Gameforms. Technically Gameforms died a couple of weeks ago, but it’s been several months since I’ve even checked (I liked their remade box art of Resident Evil for GCN, but I can’t think of anything else they really contributed to the scene). These days, I check Magic Box, Gamers.com, and 1up, but none of them have the personality that the GIA did. So, does anyone know of a decent place where one could find game news?

(edit: now if only we could kill off the GIA’s retarded cousin RPGamer… >:D )

I think you mean RPLAMER!

Well, that’s much better than RPGayer, which is what my rl friends call it… >_>

Well, I didn’t think Merlin was going to pipe up and say it, so someone had to do it.

Why, I find all my game news here. Needless to say, I’m greatly uninformed. :stuck_out_tongue:

Game Forms sucked. I went to it right after The GIA died and then a couple of times after and never looked back. Their site had little to no value. The GIA had great reviews, previews, and news, but Game Forms only had weak news, rpeviews, and “reviews” (if you want to call them that). I say good riddance. At least they didn’t try to rob everyone before dying.

Plus TheGIA fucked Hiryuu over the prize he won right before they closed (Because we all know he’ll bitch about it).

I went to Gameforms for a while just to check their letters column; when they had John Hummel doing it, it was a lot of fun. Once he left I never bothered.

I’m not quite sure why people don’t like RPGamer. Frankly, I’ve yet to see another gaming site that has as much info and news about RPGs as it has, without all the annoying stuff that IGN throws at you. I also like the editorials and Q&A section.

The GIA sucks. I TOTALLY won the grand prize in their last contest, and I never got my prize. FUCK THEM!

RPGamer actually gave me my prize when I won one of their contests, which makes them INFINITELY more awesome than the GIA ever was.

I dunno, but ever since the GIA formed, I’ve always had something against RPGamer. It just seemed like they didn’t update as fast, and didn’t have useful information. Aside from Hiryuu’s problem with the contest prize, I’ve never had a complaint about the GIA. They were always punctual, had any game news that I cared about, and were witty about it. Since they closed, I’ve yet to find any site that covers all the games I’m interested in, much less in a timely, amusing manner.

You’re right, the GIA was awesome. It’s also been dead for three years, so as far as I’m concerned RPGamer has the top spot right now and has had it since that fatal April Fools Day.

I check RPGFan for my RPG-related stuff, Gamespot for everything else. (Of course in order to do anything at Gamespot these days you need their premium bullshit membership, so I just pick up headlines and google for better sources.)

I check RPGamer and RPGFan for all my RPG info. The rest I normally get from friends or from Gamepro. I haven’t bought a non RPG game in a long time. The last two games I got (GTA:SA and Wheel of Fortune) were X-mas gifts so they don’t count.

hey remember when people used to give you information for free on the Internet???

Yeah, that was great. I miss that. Remember when internet ads actually generated revenue?
