LAAG stands for <i>Light Anti-Aircraft Gun</i>

The Warthog uses Halo’s animation system to feature true 4-wheel steering and deformable suspension. Three players can ride in it: one driving, one in the passenger seat firing a handheld weapon, and one manning the gun. <b>The Chaingun mounted behind, the M41 light anti-aircraft gun is (according to the Halo manual) a “three-barreled, electric-powered linkless, drum-fed weapon.” It fires roughly 500 rounds per minute. </b>

I see, the .50 cal is still a better weapon though. You can be within like 6 feet of your target and you’ll still damage it. Plus, it fires more rounds a minute.

Well the Gauss Gun on the Warthog in Halo 2 is sweeter!

The Gauss gun is basically a Rail Gun (same method of exicuiting)
