Is this game going to be a direct sequal to Disgaea?

Phantom Kingdom doesn’t seem to be a direct sequel, but I wouldn’t be suprised if Laharl or Prier tuns out to be the other “demon lord” though considering Laharl, Etna, and Flonne found their way into Phantom Brave.
Although I’m not for sacrificing things to gods, (except maybe DG, but that’s different) but I surely hope this game gets realesed in the U.S. The possibility seems likely as NIS recently created a branch of themselves here.
Hmph, not that made me think. Anyone notice that a character in a previous game always showed up in the next one? Prier was in Disgaea and Laharl, Etna, and Flonne were in Phantom Brave. I wonder if PK will continue this by bringing Ash or Marone into it. How would that work? Hm…
If they brought Ash and Marone, Ash would be a phantom that doesn’t disappear, and Marone would be at a high level.
