Got this in the mail this morning...

<IMG SRC=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/mrsaturn/saturns_precious.jpg” ALT=“Final Fantasy XI Beta”>

Just curious if anyone else got this bad boy. Wanted to know if I could meet anyone from in here online.

Sure. I can meet you on there. Just get me a cable connection and send your beta to my house.

Btw, lemme know how it is.

Nope, unfortunately.

Sat, want to do a special RPGC-beta featurette? I remember Sin did one for D2.

I think that is a good idea also.

Do you concur?

I concur! I most likely won’t play this game, but I’d be extremely interested in a featurette, especially by the knowedgeable Mr. Saturn.

That is, if you want to do it.

yeah, could let us know if it’s good or not

what we do need on top of that is someone with more experience with MMORPGs than Mr Saturn to look at certain aspects an mmorpg player would be looking at (not just an RPG player). I think it would bring interesting discussion about the game.

Can I rob it from you? Actually, I’d send Mr. Waving Smilie, but the effect would be the same: I promise.

I’m not too fond of the latter Final Fantasies, or mmorpgs, but I’ll look forward to that feautrette: If there comes one.

Yeah right. It barely came to America with the low profit it made in Japan. What makes you think they’ll bring one to Europe.

I was talking about what people were suggesting Mr. Saturn to make. And I don’t expect it to make it here, despite Europe having more broadband and thus a better basis than the USA.

Anyone who knows anything about MMORPGs can understand why it wasn’t too hot in Japan. Its a very different market than the US.

I’ve got a lot of friends who are hardcore into mmorpgs, and I’m going to make them sit down and watch me so I can get their opinion.

I agree that the featurette is a good idea. I’ll get on that asap.

BTW, from what I’ve done setting up profiles and playing a little TetraMaster, PlayOnline is the most beautiful, streamlined, well crafted program I’ve ever used. If Windows was half that user-friendly and just plain useful, there’d be no Linux. Not to mention that the bgm is amazingly beautiful. I almost wish that they’d release a PlayOnline soundtrack along with the FF11 soundtrack.

[edit]
BTW, if anyone wants to e-mail me in-game, my new PlayOnline e-mail address is <A HREF="mailto:x83038613196@pol.com?subject=RPGClassics">x83038613196@pol.com</a>. Not that I can’t check other e-mails in-game, but that’s the one that’s especially built into the interface. But if I get just one Klez at my pol address… I’m killing you all.

Sat, I’m sorry but I now have to kill you and take your copy. I’d let you live but you’d come back for it eventually. Also congrats and shit.

I like you sat. So I don’t know why I want to murder you so badly…

Man, I hate you.

Then again, I probably won’t get FFXI anyway, since my job only pays about $37 bucks a week, half of which my parents MAKE me stash away in a bank account I can’t even use for school.

But yeah, the market in the US likes MMORPGs. Because we Americans are dumb.

PA’s comic with Div at the bar preety much summped up my POV on the situation…

Also, Sat, know anything about Dragon Warrior Online, if that’s even being considered anymore?

Oh, and I might have signed up for a PC beta, but honestly I don’t have much desire to play it, so if I do get it in the mail, I might give it to someone.

I hate you, Sat. I hate you very very much.

Square Enix was working on an online DQ game last I heard. Of course, it’ll use PlayOnline, now.

Anyway, from what I’ve been able to get from it so far, it’s very similar to my Everquest experience; I’ve been roaming around a huge city trying to figure out wtf I’m supposed to be doing. The music and atmosphere give it an FF flare, but it’s definitely an MMORPG at heart.

I hate you, Sat. (j/k :P)
