Friendly reminder

Don’t forget to bring your clocks back an hour before going to bed tonight. You wouldn’t want to wake up, rush to wherever you’re going, only to find out whatever you’re headed to doesn’t start for another hour, would you?

Oh yeah, that hour switching thingie. It’s not common in my country, so I never quite understood what was the point of it.

Er, I don’t really know why, something about how it would be dark WAY too early without it. And, I thought the entire world did it. O_o Some countries don’t even really pay attention to it?

Nope, they tried to enforce it a few years ago but nobody paid attention.

Only thing that I was ever told about that is that it somehow saves energy. U.S. instated it in WWI, then in WWII, then later certain states made it permanent. A better explanation on how it saves energy would be much appreciated.

Thanks Windows.

WAit, so I get a free hour now, or do I lose one?

free hour. In spring you lose one.

I think you save energy because you use one hour less of illumination, but that’s only something I overheard.

basically, it makes sunrise an hour later (cuz in theory no sane person’s up that early or sumthin) and thus makes sunset later (so that you don’t turn the lights on as early n stuff)

I heard it was a way for farmers to remember to get up earlier or later to tend their fields because of the change in seasons.

It was originally made so that everyone would get up earlier during the day, and go to bed earlier, and have more actual daylight during that time, and thus, saving money on candles. Same principle applies now, except with energy for lights.

Do the words Daylight Savings Time ring a bell for anyone? :stuck_out_tongue:

Psst, Eva, it’s Daylight Saving Time. No S at the end of Saving.

Yeah. Earlier dawn makes it easier for farmers to do their work, but sunsets earlier too, but who really cares anymore.

You always make me look foolish ;_;

Yes, I think that’s the whole theory behind the hour adjustment. I’m just not sure on who first came up with it.

Benjamin Franklin is acredited with it, but he probably stole it from someone else. Just like Einstein

Eh? What did Einstein steal?

He plagiarised some of the theory of relativity
