Free Yale Courses:

They have:

ASTR 160 - Frontiers and Controversies in Astrophysics
with Professor Charles Bailyn

ENGL 310 - Modern Poetry
with Professor Langdon Hammer

PHIL 176 - Death
with Professor Shelly Kagan

PHYS 200 - Fundamentals of Physics
with Professor Ramamurti Shankar

PLSC 114 - Introduction to Political Philosophy
with Professor Steven B. Smith

PSYC 110 - Introduction to Psychology
with Professor Paul Bloom

RLST 145 - Introduction to the Old Testament (Hebrew Bible)
with Professor Christine Hayes

They have the readings, videos of lectures, class handouts, and even tests for some of them. All in all, I think that it’s pretty awesome. Right now, I’m “taking” RLST 145 and PHI 176 (taught by a professor KAGAN… coincedence?), but I plan on looking at all of them. I might be a weirdo or something, but I enjoy learning.

MIT offers the same thing in some of their engineering courses.

If I’m going to take online courses, I would rather it be through some prestigious university, like DeVry or University of Phoenix, not some hack school named Yale.

Wait, so is it transferable?

I wanna take PSYC110 and PHIL176

I wonder how a class on Death goes.

I wish I had discovered this when I was 10 :stuck_out_tongue:

(I probably would have gotten all hyped up and then burned out quickly :P)

It’s for self-edification, so no credit. Sorry.

Probably very well, although, cake tends to be the more popular choice.

Bleh, I’ll take them. But I wish I could get free monies :frowning:

Wow, thanks for posting this. Poetry is always good to explore further. The idea of a philosophy class on death sounds quite appealing as well.

I’ll wait for Bloom’s courses.

Excellent material. I’ll have to set aside some time for these… and back them all up to DVD. :hint:

…that’s actually pretty cool. >.> I might take one.
