They have a great deal of non-licensed stuff, and here are the best three:
Yakitate! Japan
It’s Hikaru no Go. But then replace Go with bakery. It’s about a kid who wants to make the ‘National’ bread (French Bread, English Bread etc etc) for Japan, and goes through practically every other style of bread while he’s at it. Even though it’s about BAKERY it’s stupidly ridiculous to be funny and awesome. Where else will you hear the line ‘His bread has a fatal weakness!’? Has some pretty damn cool moments and some funny-as-hell plot-devices. Watch out for “SOLAR GAUNTLETS OVERCOAT RAAARRR!” later in the series.
MÄR
MÄR is awesome. It’s how Kingdom Hearts would have been without the Disney influence (i.e. awesome). It starts out deeply average, with a geeky boy being trasported into a Magical Mystery Realm©, and goes through the usual meets-friends-gets-stronger storyline. Then after a few tens of chapters it suddenly gets real dark, real fast, and suddenly gets good as the cookie-cutter characters get depth and some background, and a real enemy is introduced.
Houshin Engi
Based off what is probably the first-ever fantasty novel, it’s about a Sennin (read; immortal) sent down to the human world on the ‘Houshin Project’ to dispose of all the evil immortals there, culminating with Dakki, the evil immortal woman who has seduced the Emperor and is leading the land to destruction. Even if it doesn’t stick to the book, it has some excellent characterisation and background. If it helps any, compare it to the Three Kingdoms, only with magic and stuff. Rar.
The site also has various others, mostly licensed and on their IRC channel bots, and the latest chapters all need bittorrent, but all of the above are direct links, so you have no excuse. Get downloading.
