Fire Emblem

Yay! Fire Emblem is out! Who has it? Who’s played it? Who has the ROM ? I’ve played it for a while and I’m liking it quite a bit. If you’ve happened to play any of the other Fire Emblem games, the gameplay is similar yet improved upon, (at least from FE2).

It goes like this:
The battles are turn based in that your entire team goes first and then the enemy team. You characters come in many classes and can upgrade when they reach level 10 and then they go back to level one with their new class up to a max of level 20.

Some weapons are stronger against other weapons. Like axes are stronger than lances, lances beat swords and swords beat axes. Also archers always do critical damage to flying units. Magic is set up similarly. Light magic beats dark magic, elemental magic beats light magic and dark magic beats elemental magic.

It’s important to keep characters alive in this game since there is now way to revive them or keep them after the battle.

The storyline seems pretty standard so far, though it’s well written. I’m only about a third or so through the game. The story is set up into chapters and side quests and each chapter or side quest has a battle to fight. You take the role of “yourself” as a battle tactician who fights along side the main character. “You” do no fighting but you command all of the troops on your team.

That’s all I can think of to talk about the game. But it’s pretty good. If other people have played it, drop a line here.

I’ve been seriously thinking about importing this (yay for no EU release date), but I’m shit-deep into FFTA right now. And in 2 weeks Mario and Luigi and the new Harvest Moon game for the GBA are released, so I’m having a lot of trouble deciding where my money for 1 game goes to :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, I have the spoiler thing, but that’s just because I have the full GBA collection. Not playing it until I get the cart. cough#rpgccoughicqcoughaimcough

Just get the ROMs .

I will, but I want good games like those in cart. It, you know, supports the industry :stuck_out_tongue: And I dislike playing GBA games on an annoying keyboard. Portability and linking is nice, too.

Uhm, TD…

Just import it. GBA games are region free, so as long as you know what buttons to press you can play any GBA game. =P

Anyhow, it’s out? SWEET! I’ll be getting this one soon…

Just a question, is it FE6 or FE7?

Yeah, see, there is Fire Emblem 6, which I heard was getting translated and then I didn’t hear anything from it any longer, and there is Fire Emblem 7 which I heard would definitely be translated… So which one is it? =P

After a 1 minute check on gamefaqs, 6.

Wait, no. FE6 is the one with Roy. But this one doesn’t have Roy, I thought this was FE7…

I would love to own it, but there are two problems with that. I don’t own a Gameboy Advance, and it hasn’t been released in Europe yet. Whine, whine.

And my kid sisters Gameboy Advance is pink. I don’t like pink: Brings bad luck. And it’s not a SP.

I don’t like Fire Emblem, but I like using Roy and Marth in SSBM~

You know TD, you could get a controller with a USB hook up pretty cheap. That’s what I do to play any rom .

The problem with roms is that people IM you when your playing, lets say “last blade two” and make you lose the match your playing. God damnit.

I never thought that BHX would tell me to play the rom instead of buy the game.

There are 2 FE GBA games. The first one had Roy. I can’t remember the name, though.

This one’s probably FE7. I haven’t seen the skills yet, so I’m sad. I hope they get introduced later.

First, I thought this was SUPPOSED to be the FE with Roy in it. Last I heard when the new FE was still in development, Roy had yet to be placed in a game.

Second, X that sounds a helluva lot similar to the gameplay in FE5, with Sigurd and the marriagement of characters. Except I remember in FE5 there is a way to revive people (Claudes Valkerye Staff), but I never did let a character go to shit…

BTW, as a quick time line of the Fire Emblems, let me run it down for you

FE1 - This is the one with Marth. Plays almost like FE2 (so I’ve heard. I never found the original ROM) The point of the story is that Marth was a prince and was booted from his kingom due to the vile work of some evil dragon or something.

FE2 (Gaiden) - This is the one with Alm and his sister Ceila. At the third chapter and on, you can switch control to either one of them and fight on seperate sides of the continent. The story was that the grand kingdom of insert name here was being a bastard again and Alm, who had some heritage, got together with some of his hommies to set things straight, only to reveal that some guy was trying to ressurect Doma, some plant-demon-bitch-beast to make shit happen all over the continent. I dunno, I forgot. I don’t have the ROM on me right now…

FE3 - I read a lot up on this. I heard it’s an SNES remake of the original, and then what happened years afterwards, re-introducing old characters as adults and so on. Marth is the main character again. The evil dragons after your ass again, only this time there’s a little catch. There are four healers (sisters) thoughout the game. I think in the first part, or possibly some of the second to an extent, you have to conver them (promote?) or else at the end the Dark Dragon will take control of them. Then during the last fight, the sisters will turn against you (mind control) along the dragon. When the dragon gets too weak, he’ll eat one of the sisters to regain full health. Gruesome, eh?

FE4 - I heard nothing much about the storyline, although I did see screen shots. I recommend that you just pass this one up unless you want to say you’ve actually played this.

FE5 - Geneology of the Holy War. This is the one with Sigurd and Co. in them. If you haven’t heard much about this game, then just get the ROM and play it or just read through a walkthough. Note this though: Elthoshan (sic), Cuan, and Finn become key parts in the next game…

FE6 - This is only partially translated…but let me run it by you. In FE5, in the thrid or fourth fight (forgot) there should be a scene with Elthoshan and Cuan meeting up (you have to pair them up for them to talk) and she’ll pass Cuan the legendary spear of something or other and cry ‘cause there’ a legend about this spear how once they used it, when they returned home they were killed and all that bad shit. Cuan didn’t believe her. Finn was just there 'cause he was his right hand man at the time, next to Sigurd. A couple of chapters later, they depart for their home. In FE6, the story opens up with Cuan and Elthoshan being brutally killed and their kingdom burnt down to shit. Finn escapes with their son, and the first fight beings with Finn (now an aging man) and the son (now a prince) and some woman who also played a key part in FE5 (forgot AGAIN) I think Finn comes back in the second half of FE5, but I’m not sure…

FE7 - Fucked if I knew…

Well FE7 is like this so far. You are a tactician who was found by this girl who turns out to be the granddaughter of a king who is being posioned by his brother. I haven’t made it too far but right now the girl is trying to reach her grandfather. I think the plot is supposed to split up soon but I don’t know.

Smacks Kag You got it all wrong. It’s

[NES] Fire Emblem (First game)
[NES] Fire Emblem: Gaiden (Second game)
[SNES] Fire Emblem: Monshou No Nazo (Riddle of the Crest, third game)
[SNES] Fire Emblem: Seisen No Keifu (Genealogy of the Holy war, fourth game)
[SNES] Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 (Fifth game)
[GBA] Fire Emblem: Fuuin no Tsurugi (The Sealed Sword, sixth game, this one has Roy)
[GBA] Fire Emblem: Rekka no Ken (I have no idea what the title means, but it’s the 7th game)

So, uh, yeah.

Sword of Fire, or something like that.

Well to us ignorant Americans, FE7 is just plain old Fire Emblem.
