Finland vs Canada - Icehockey World Cup Finals.

Finland beat USA 2-1 from a (1-0) disadvantage on Friday.

Canada, with hard work, dropped the Czech team from the final with the result 4-3 just yesterday.

The two meet in the Final on Tuesday. (Wednesday for us future people) Are you ready?

((Yeah, seeing our Lions do fine in sports is nice since we’re such a small country and recognition in anything does good for our PR. Especially after the two-silver disappointment in Athens.))

Whether the Fins or Canadians win, good luck. Just as long as it’s not the US -_-;;

Go US! Waves flag :smiley:

nooooo, Czech Republic lost!

I watched the last two periods of the Canada/Czech Republic match yesterday. And that’s all I had to say on the topic. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m almost disapointed Canada is winning. If we didnt’ we’d have to think of something else to wave around consantly- it wouldn’t hurt to broaden our horizons.

Ah well, best of luck to both teams. ^^

:kissy:

You realize they already lost, right? >>;

Woo, go Finland! :smiley:

Finland can’t be stopped, their fins lower the wind resistance and make them too fast.

Yeah well, Canucks sounds like ducks, and ducks eat things with fins, like FISH! OHH!!!

I am not a Hockey fan so this is all immaterial to me.
Is skewered alive by rabid hockey fans.

I love the bias in telling of the otucomes. “Finland beat the US with a disadvantage, Canada beat the Czech Republic with hard work.” What exactly was the disadvantage Finland had? Were they fouling a lot so that most of the game was 5 on 4 US favor? Was Finland’s best player out of the game? I mean, a 2 to 1 victory is pretty close. It seems fairly even at that score. It seems mroe like either the US slipped in the last and winning goal, or just couldn’t catch up depending on when the goals occured, or that Finland managed to just pull off some nice plays to give them the lead. Afterall, both games were won by one goal. It seems like all the teams are very talented. Maybe Finland and Canada jsut wanted it more and put out that extra effort which was enought og ive them the one goal needed. I’m just curiosu as to what the disadvantage Finland had.

Finland had to take a 12-hour flight over the ocean and play three days later. Up until their semifinal versus the USA, they had played all their games in Europe. And Finland does not have a great team anyway. They have a few good forwards, but their main strength is their goaltending (Kipprusoff). The USA probably was stronger overall, but Finland’s goaltending is what saved them.

Err, they rose up from a 1-0 losing position (disadvantage) to 1-2 in the last period. I may have used a bit o’ wrong words here. Well, one player did leave the whole team at one point due to some disagreeing with the coach, so it might’ve had some sorta impact on the team spirit.

Hell yes, Kiprusoff has been a saving grace.

And the Canada - Czech match, it was CLOSE. If they gave out the medals for effort, Czech woulda gotten it.

And don’t twist my words please.

One of the Finnish forwards, Saku Koivu, is Montreal “Canadians” capitain.
So either way Canadians win.
Right?

Now is impressive. It soudns lieka combination fo what I said the reason for winning (US slipping and Finalnd just wanting it more and pulling ahead). The US probably got a little cocky in the third period thinking that they had it wrapped up, and Finland just kept pushing. It probably would have been to say that they came from behind than from a disadvantage. I didn’t mean to twist your words. It is just that with a sort of bias statement first it sets a certain type of tone. Like I said, the game was close and it seems like all the teams were pretty even. The firsts tatement seemed sort of bias, so it just set of my interpretation of the second part, but I still sort of argued the same thing. Hearing about the victories, the final game should be very interesting.

Ez, 3 days is plenty of time to rest up. Imean, they could ahve flown, rested a day, then practiced. They may have lost 2 days at most.

a small country?? your country is like 25 times as big as ours is… maybe more

Yeah, “disadvantage” is definetly a hockey term. :stuck_out_tongue: I don’t know if it’s used in other sports as well, though…

Was Holland in the HWC? No.

America sucks. And I live there. Shows how patriotic I am.
