Although failed several times, I finaly got my comic printed finally in one of the largest comic magazine in China. I studied physics in the University of physics, I should be a researcher or something like that, but I always feel tried of physics now. I don’t know if I should be a professional comicer or not.
Sun: comics is something you should always do for the fun of it. It isn’t a real career, unless you become wildly popular. Work as a researcher, then have fun producing your comics on your free time.
That’s an excellent accomplishment! Good job on being persistent enough to finally get it in. I don’t know if you want to quit your day job right away though, I’d wait until you are getting published more frequently.
I’m planing some FF doujin work. Maybe I’ll post it after its finish.
Comic can hardly be a very stable job, but it pays well, really. In China, the comic industry is only less than 10 years old, there’s really a better chance to get famous. What I worry about most is that I might lack the talent and hard-working for a success. Maybe I’ll have a try.
Enjoy as your compatriots copy and reuse your comic without your permission and without due compensation!
But in all honestly…I wish more Chinese people were interested in creating their own media like this. It’s these kinds of creations and those that make them that might actually foster a culture where ideas are respected and IPR protected. I guess this is why all of your pop stars and movie stars come from HK/Taiwan…isn’t possible for a Chinese artist to make a living. Unfortunately, that’s still a long way off.
