Final Fantasy XI - Tomorrow

This thief is ready to go!!! Anyone else picking it up tomorrow?

When I get paid on Friday, then I will.

Black Mage all the way man.

I can’t afford it right now, too many bills to pay.

Besides… I’m not sure about the whole Online gaming thing… maybe if some of us RPGCers formed a party…

(IF I played, I would go for a Human Black Mage/White Mage.)

I personally have absolutely no interest in FF11. MMORPGs aren’t my thing, and I ain’t buying a game that can ONLY be played online.

I don’t think I will be getting it either. I have played many online RPGs and I have always enjoyed them for a few months, but then after that I normally get sick of them.

Anybody have the prices on it?

Sigh…

I wonder why they had to make FFXI a MMORPG instead of focusing on another Single Player experience and make FFOnline instead…

And from what I’ve seen it looks like just another version of Everquest with a few different races and monsters, so I won’t be getting FFXI.

<img src=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/tenchimaru/td.gif”> I might pick it up if it gets an EU release. I don’t particulary feel like importing it to get insane lag. If I do get it though, I’m shooting for a Tarutaru Black Mage/Red Mage and a human Dragoon/Samurai.

My thoughts exactly. Tomorrow will be my foray into the MMORPG world, it should be interesting. Without spending much time looking into the game, I’m envisioning a Baldur’s Gate (PC) style world, with a boatload of people to interact with. Ideally I’d like to team up with people I know somewhat, or at least know of.

<img src=“http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/tenchimaru/td.gif”> Well, think more along the lines of, boatloads of people to annoy the HELL out of you, who act like assholes, and you’ve pretty much got the right idea :stuck_out_tongue:

The idea of forming a RPGC team does sound cool, but I still can’t get it. I’m not even sure if I will get it when it does come out over here. Maybe if it get’s good recommendations from RPGCers who do get, then maybe I will.

I dun wanna buy a frikkin modem and harddrive for my PS2, so I’ll settle for WoW or a PC version.

the PC version is coming out tomorrow (NA). The PS2 version is scheduled for release in January. Since I already have a keyboard, modem and hard drive for my PC, it doesn’t really make much sense to get the ps2 version. I’d guess most people would be in the same situation.

Ding ding ding. Go to the FFXI/any FF board on GameFAQs and meet your fellow <strike>trolls</strike> players. I’m not saying the community is better on RO or any other MMORPG (so don’t try to construe this as a omg RO iz teh r0x0r nd FFXI iz teh sux0r), but ugh, you’ll be dealing with a whole bunch of 13 year old FF morons who will have tons of fun at your expense. That’s the problem about MMORPGs- you get the pleasure of dealing with TONS of idiots, assholes, and annoying people in general.

I hate to ask a stupid question, but is it P2P?

Yeah, it is.

Then there is absolutely no reason to get it. Eww.

Heh, well it’s understandable really. There’s no other way they could maintain the servers unless you want to pay $1000 up front to play all you want after that. Tons of MMORPGs are P2P- it’s the only way large ones can run really.

I am getting it… Hume Thief all the way!!! (What, were you expecting something else?)

As for the sub-class… I have to think about it.

I would, if only my girlfriend were into games. I have barely enough time for regular games, let alone MMORPGs. :frowning:
