Well, in that case you are using a definition of gay that is obsolete. Gay isn’t the happy it used to be (a real loss if you ask me).
The term is ‘light-hearted.’ Why light-hearted should suggest femininity and ‘dark-brooding’ should be masculine I really don’t understand. I suppose comparatively perhaps, but bah. Judging from the selection of college students I’ve seen, far more are light-hearted than dark and brooding. 
I liked Tidus as a main. He responded to all the crazy shit that was happening like any normal person would. He was scared, he bitched and moaned… Your typical lead just accepts his fate as world savior like it’s as common as waking up in the morning. Tidus was real. Now Yunie on the other hand…
