I just got the 100% perfect ending last week… I know I missed a couple of tiny things, but it was all good. Thank you, more than 100 completion points!
Did anyone else think it wasn’t worth the work (if one’s main goal is to get the perfect ending)? I apologize if I’m raining on the parade. =\
I think its official (i have the guidebook so im going by it). Like 2 missions into chp 2, there is a checkpoint of 30%. Im at 29% and some tenths. ERGGG. This is going to make me so mad. as my last backup file was 7 hrs ago. and im hoping that i dont have to completely restart the whole game.
Vicky, you said you can get over 100%? How? and so, do you think id be ok with it still?
Thirty Seconds later
I think i found it. I said “go on” when you talk to Machicne (the historian dude, at the Youth League’s Camp on Musroom Rock Road). It says dont inturrupt him. I think saying keep going counts. berg. now to see if my backup covers that, or if i have to completely restart.
Also, Does the order of events matter as long as you do them in the chapter they are meant to be done in? Like i did calm plains before anything else in chp 1. would that matter, as long as everything got done?
Interrupting Maechan does count against you, because then he will skip part of his speech. If you really dont want to sit through the whole thing, that’s a good time to go get a snack or something. Unless you’re really interested in knowing the whole story of course.
I don’t think the order matters too much really, except in a few certain instances in Ch. 5. I might be forgetting something though.
I always liked listening to Maechen. You could just get up and leave to get a snack/put clothes in the dryer/go to the bathroom/etc., but you have to say “Yes” to shaking his hand for some more completion points now and later. I didn’t press any buttons during that part until it got to his request for a handshake.
Be careful with using the official guide… I have it (I think I bought it for the mix list, the Calm Lands missions, and a couple of other things where I didn’t want to have to run back and forth from the computer to the couch), but I (like everyone else probably) found some errors. GameFAQs has some great resources and some people who know a lot about the game available… however, I’m sure that if a shrine for this game is completed here it’ll be SO much better, right?
Kei (man, it feels odd to say Kei, lol) I believe is right on the order of things. The only part I can think of where the order matters is for Chapter 5 for getting the Mascot dressphere - make sure that Zanarkand is NOT the last Hotspot you visit; for some reason unknown, you won’t get the dressphere then. I know that’s a ways off for you, but don’t forget it for the future, because the Mascot is pretty cool to have.
I’ve played through the game two times. Both times I gave the sphere to the Youth League. I think that if you pick a different side in a different game, you’ll get more points for your total since you keep what you had before. However, I know that I missed looking for some moogle thing in Luca in Chapter 1 (I think), and I know I missed at least one Commsphere scene in Chapter 4. It seems though that if you miss completion points in some places it’s still possible to get 100% by completing other tasks. If I hadn’t finished Bevelle in Chapter 5 (which takes some work), I’d still be at 99.
Na, i think im just going to restart. Thanks for the help guys.
Oh man, I forgot that I interrupted Maechen the first time! I rant on and on, and then I don’t mention I did that… oops!
I realized that I did it, and then I went to talk to him again without interrupting. It didn’t seem to hurt anything though…
edit - Questions for you… is this your first time playing, and are you trying for a 100% on the first go?
Don’t try for 100% on the first go. You’ll only give yourself a headache. On the second go, just give the Awesome Sphere to whoever you didn’t give it to before (you’ll know what I mean when you get there). You’ll end up with far more than 100% completion without having to view extremely obscure scenes.
I like seeing the obscure scenes… Some of them actually help to explain a lot. :o
But I’ve been following the Bradygames guide to get 100% completion (still haven’t gotten around to beating the Bevelle dungeon though… I just don’t want to after all this time x.x), and I’m curious: Exactly what errors does it have? So far all I’ve noticed is that it failed to mention how to get an accessory (one of the Lores… I forget which) from the Argent, Inc. president (it has to do with that treasure chest with the buttloads of Gil).
